Cross platform voice and text chat, video sending, group chat etc. I imagine iMessage does everything but it requires everyone be on iOS for all the features, WhatsApp is on all platforms so is all the features for all the people.

I don't use WhatsApp. I still use text and Messenger and Skype and I rarely get marketing texts. I just block them and delete the text and, provided it's not a scam to charge you in a spoofed text, text stop to opt out etc.

I generally don't like being available all the time and messenger is fine for group things. It also means I can be "on Facebook" without actually being on Facebook as you can log in separately now.

WhatsApp is good for pictures.

Are you mad. Pictures are for hoarding on hard disks and only re discovering them when you search "all images" to find your porn.

I cant hoarde my pictures of tits until they are sent to me, for which I require an ingress vector.

Cross platform and it uses you phone contacts. I don't really see any reason to use it to contact people that have iPhones since I can just use iMessage.

As it happened the message didn't come for my friend until a couple of hours after I made this post.
But if anyone has opted in there is a way to opt out, but be quick as you only have 30 days, after that you can NEVER opt out.

I've never liked WhatsApp, I find it plain ugly.

I have friends with Android phones who use this over Hangouts and I can't fathom why. However, Google have now strawberry floated that by removing merged SMS and hangouts conversations.

This could be the opportunity for something like Line to really move into new markets.

The problem I have with WhatsApp is that it always takes them strawberry floating ages to update their app to take advantage of new stuff in iOS like quick reply and 3D Touch. Took them a good few months to add those whereas other major apps were updated almost immediately when the new version of iOS released.

Don't know if this was covered... what happens if you install the app on a new phone but are technically an existing user... does ot opt you out automatically?? I can't see the option on the new install.
