Not yet but Hype has kind of let that particular cat out of the proverbial bag.

I do know who the cult leader is (they attempted to recruit me) but not who else is a member.

Edit: I don't think the cultists can directly harm anyone as such but I guess their win condition involves keeping the parasites alive somehow.

Several things happen.

1. Lambda_Mog is taken to be bathed. He appears to grimace with pain as he nears the pool, but as he's thrown in, the water boils away from him. He no longer feels hot to the touch.

2. Lambda_Clark drags Delta_Hype off towards the mountains. They are both found dead. Hype was stabbed through the heart in some kind of ritual, and (as we all know...) was a HUMAN CULTIST. Clark has torn out his own throat, and was a HUMAN CULT LEADER.

3. The decoded data from the flight is available. The cargo manifest indicates that, as well as various pieces of equipment, the explosives were intended to be enough to destroy all routes out of Amsoldingen. The recording of the pilot's comms indicate that he attempted to complete the delivery even after discovering that his co-pilot had been infected. You do not know exactly why this mission was taking place, nor do you know how to help your comrades in Omega Squad, as their orders were tampered with.

Welp, guess the cult aren't a problem any more.
I'd suggest we try and get some biologist/lieutenant reads on Mog to see if he's still infected or if his role has changed.

It’s very hard to piece together what’s going on now.

So what have we learned? Based on the sections of Ariel's update above:

1. The pool does change the temperature of the person bathed in it - but we still don't actually know what the benefits or drawbacks of either the hot or cold states are, other than that the cold state doesn't protect someone from whatever happened to Mario last night?

2. Clark and Hypes have undertaken some kind of ritualistic suicide pact?

3. Omega were planning to destroy the roads to Amsoldingen? Planning to trap us where we are to stop anything spreading further?

Can I go in the pool? When we see what it does to me, at least we'll have a better idea about how it works.

Re: hot/cold - I had a theory that the cult could only recruit people who had been dunked in the pool as it would let them go through the maelstrom without getting heated up, hence why Mario got chucked in - not in spite of but because of being cold. Guessing we won't find out now till the end of the game, unless there are more cultists hiding out somewhere.
