The ongoing console wars has always led to fan boy debates on which console is the best of them all, Is it the Xbox 360, with a large back catalogue of games and arguably the best online service, the PS3 with arguably the best graphics and power than the other consoles, the Wii, with a focus on the casual gaming demographic or is the PC still the master race being the oldest and biggest format of all four. Well, I’ve constructed a tournament to find out.
There will be four teams representing each console, each with a team captain (which I will talk about later). The tournament will be recorded in a league table, 3 points for a win, 1 point for draw and zero for a loss. There shall be three games played on each console, with a game being played every weekend at an agreed time. I shall choose 1 game on each platform, and the other two will be decided by the respective teams. The games I have chosen are:
PC: Battlefield 2142, because of the high player count, the squad system adds a tactical feel and the commander position could be used by the team captain
Xbox 360: Halo 3, because of its user friendly atmosphere, a great multiplayer feature and ideal features for hosting the matches
PS3: Metal Gear Online, because it requires teamwork, is a big game for the PS3 and is quite good fun.
Wii: Super Smash Bros. Brawl: As it can be used to be a game where all four team captains can fight directly against each other.
The team captains will be chosen from the general public, but to be eligible, you must fill the criteria:
MUST have all four consoles, due to the importance of good communication
Will take part in every match
Can manage the team to your desire, from choosing players for teams to recruitment.
I would like to start by putting myself forward as candidate for team Xbox; any other candidates should email me at
