My copy of leviathan arrives today :datass:

But over the weekend I painted this.
My local game store's monthly painting challenge this month was "paint something pink".

Image

I actually bought a box of Squigs especially for the painting challenge. So after a year I shall have a multicoloured squad of Squigs. Squig Squad™ 8-)

I've been so tempted to buy Leviathan, despite having no interest in playing it, and still having most of my 14 year old Space Hulk 3rd Ed still to paint!

Decided to modify the dreadnought that comes in the leviathan box.
Really do not like the beer belly / nose of the new style dreads.
Have mine a chop job to get it to resemble the beloved box dreadnought much closer

Before:
Image

Without beer belly panel, much better view of the sarcophagus.
Image

The plan was to cut the red section out with my Dremel, but leave the shoulders:
Image

Done, but needs some spare bits to go under the sarcophagus and fill the empty space that was behind the beer belly.
And added a bit of extra, like the aerial and extra lights/bits to the weapon arms. They looked to boring and flat. And a hose from an Ork flamer to cover my hack job to an extent.

Image

Really happy with it, looks cooler and more like a love letter to the old box dreadnought.
Now to paint it!

That’s an excellent conversion, looks like a legit upgrade to the old pattern. Nice work.

Finally finished two models I picked up from Warhammer World back in February. First is a Knight Castigator. This was a true pain in the arse to repose - the ammo feed for the Bolt Cannon split in three different places as I was heating and reshaping it. Happy with the end results though.

Then there’s this:

Image

Waaagh.

They sell this with two options for the main weapon, but have designed the model so that one option attaches to the outside of the kit, the other attaches to the inside of the body and pokes out through the front. I guess the intention is to stop people magnetising the kit, but I saw someone come up with a solution where you magnetise the Giga Shoota and build the entire kit around it, so that you can detach the gun, slide it into the body of the tank and then magnetise the alternate weapon onto the outside. I thought that was a really neat solution, so I did that.

Lots of stompy goodness on this page, great work Gideon! Nailed that conversion Lewis, could've told me it was an official build variant and I would've believed it.

Looks like Epic 30K is being revealed at the Warhammer preview today (2pm):

Cities of Sigmar launch box:

Tahlia Vedra, Lioness of the Parch:
Image
Image

Part of what makes the Cities of Sigmar so formidable, even in the face of gods and monsters, is the conviction of their beliefs. Few embody this strength as well as Tahlia Vedra. The former mercenary is Dawner propaganda made manifest, depicted across the realms as the righteous fury of the Dawnbringer Crusades – soaring into battle to smite the enemies of Sigmar from atop Infernadine, her savage manticore steed.

As pragmatic as she is passionate, Tahlia understands that – more than oaths and parades – her troops need food in their bellies and boots on their feet. It's an attitude that's inspired fierce loyalty in the rank-and-file, and forced her Stormcast allies to tacitly overlook the First Marshal's thinly-veiled disdain for Azyrite busybodies.

Hammerhal's Lioness wields enchanted weapons taken from high-ranking traitors she and her allies exposed and slew in her own rise to power. The fiery sword Parchtongue, taken from the Archmage Zanta Faloria. The greataxe Justice, wrested from the so-called Bloody Duke. The heavy mace Warmaker, claimed from the corrupt treasurer Venalius. The Hammer of Zeal, a trophy of the ex-Pontifex of the Cults Unberogen.

And if all else fails, Infernadine's leonine jaws and scorpion stinger can get the work done.

And so continues the years-long tradition of plastic kits releasing for models I’ve bought in resin and recently finished painting  I’m not even mad, I want that Acheron.

See: Ghazghkull, Farsight, Ragnar, Snikrot AND kommandos, Shadowsun and now the Castigator.

False wrote:Castigator has a great stance

It took me so long to get a stance that wasn’t that one with the resin kit  they even addressed the thing I had the biggest problem with, trying to reshape the ammo feeds.

The Painting challenge at the local game store this month is: "Paint something Green!"

So I painted another member of my Multicoloured Squig Squad :toot:

Image

Looking forward to having a whole herd of these in different colours.
Shame it'll take months and months

Enjoying painting the dreadnought.
Did a black, dark red and light red spray primer to mimic natural light.

Then a black shade, followed by a mephiston red and Evil sumz scarlet Drybrush - trying to mimic airbrushing, but without the airbrush:

Lots of little details:

Going to paint the front face of the missile pod yellow with black hazard stripes :dread: ... But later on

That looks amazing, Lewis! Love the shading, really subtle gradation, it looks super clean.

Dreadnought update.. I very nearly finished this evening. But tiredness won!

Need to highlight the black and the silver details. Pick out a few of the smaller details I've missed and run a very thin bright blue paint over the snow to match the Glacial look of the other Blood Angel bases I've done.

Also meant to reply to this:

Thanks buddy. I'm trying really hard to improve each time I pick up a brush. And trying to be clean and neat rather than slathering everything in brown wash like I was a year ago.

Big shout out to Falsey for being my Painting agony aunt and not telling me to strawberry float off when I message him at 11pm
