These would be a great set of diorama/display models but gw seem to have forgotten that their stuff was meant for playing games with. The average painter is not going to do those justice and may well be put off by the detail.

i think these guys are a better lead army than plain old sigmar

they have the same issue as space marines in that they are just all hulking dudes and they constantly release sergeant dude without helmet to give them even a hint of personality

That's why I hold onto these models. I still have a squad in lead from the 90s that were originally my elder brother's, so much better.

The poses on mine are great, they are lead bodies/legs with the old backpacks, arms, bolters and shoulder pads on sprues. It's very hard to find images... I have only seen it my old Red Dwarf issues.

I am getting the strongest 40k Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons unit vibe from that thing. They could call it a Bolt Cannon and I would believe it.

This looks great JC!
Hope the event went well?

I've just finished this guy from my leviathan box.
Really enjoying taking my time and working at a slow pace - still won't win a golden demon, but I feel I'm improving with each model.

I was saying to Falsey that I've been experimenting with the best way to do the snow bases, I've tried this company's snow effect, that company's snow effect, this and that..

And the result I'm most happy with? ... PVA glue and talcum powder  :fp:
Wasted so much money on modelling snow :slol:

The painting is really good mate. As someone who had it pointed it out to me a long time ago, the only noticeable refinement I can think of it is sanding/filing away the sprue nibs completely. Citadel paint is so thick you don't even need to sand afterwards, but I still use a bit of P400, 800 or even 1000+ anyway.

They're tricky to find, but I hav some of these and they are really some of the best files I've ever used.

Only around £10-20 for a set of 10, but get as many as you can (some of them are 5x, 6x and other random quantities that isn't necesarily reflected in the price).

The round, half moon (use both sides), and triangular profile ones are especially great.

Needle files, normal style, NOT diamond (those are more course and for metal, and slightly more expensive) or much bigger wood/plastic working ones.

You can also do fine with a good scalpel, I use a combination of Swann Morton but also X-acto style blades. Swann Morton Retractaway blue handle is comfortable and safer to leave around and on the table while you work. I use it for almost all of my sign work and media conversion. A no.3 handle is also fine (and lighter but you're more likely to have have accidents).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/2806-Swann-Mor ... B007OX8PVM

Don't forget a pack (or entire box) of 10A blades. These are EXTREMELY SHARP i.e. they will instantly cut you deep if you aren't careful. Surgical grade.

Citadel have a ridiculously overpriced deburring tool (more for mould lines which are fairly well hidden on citadel models) but you are fine with a scalpel. Filing is better as you won't accidentally remove parts of the model.

I usually do a bit of both.

Edit: This set of 6 stocked by amazon are 3mm wide, which seems to be right. Set of only 6 but the profiles are some of the ones I actually use the most. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yato-yt-6160-N ... 009SFN53M/

Just under £8, really good for the money. They come in a little pouch.

Edit: Found the set of ten, just 9 quid including delivery https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175439645250

Massively recommend for anyone here.

Cheers mate, ended up going 4-1 and finished 3rd, so happy with that especially as I've not played Age of Sigmar in about 6 months.

Loving that terminator! Really like the shading gradient you have across the torso and head, great job!

Never heard of PVA and talcum powder for snow though, might have to give that a go. My normal go-to product is woodlands scenics snow mixed with white paint and PVA, gives you that wet look that stays nice and white over time.

I'm working on painting up an Intercession squad for Kill Team. Thought I'd share a WIP pic. (Yes, my customised backpack decoration is a bit ridiculous!) ...

The new Flesh Eater Court stuff is brilliant. I might end up buying the army set if it's out after Christmas.

Night Lords Kill Team looks great too.

Flesh Eater Courts look amazing, I’m glad I’m not playing AoS anymore otherwise I’d be all in on that.

Can’t wait for the assault squad kit to release for heresy. Hoping it’ll come with some upgrade kits down the line to create other things too.

I was very tempted to preorder the Legions Imperialis Starter set this morning but knew it would just go straight into storage for the house move. Think I’ll pick it up in the New Year, always enjoyed playing Epic when I was younger.
