I used to be 'based', but then they changed what 'based' was. Now what I am isn't 'based' anymore and what's 'based' seems weird and scary. It'll happen to you!

Or e.g. if Tyler the Creator comes up with a new term that's cool, but if I start copying that then that's tragic as strawberry float.
Yeah, I get where you're coming from, it's more to do with the target audience age group than the originating artists. I'm not much into Lil B or know much about his fanbase to take much of a guess at age range, but I'd assume it skews below my age bracket.
Is Tyler specifically youth oriented? It never really came across to me that way.

Nah I don't think he is at all, I just couldn't think of someone else who I know is my age!

My rule (for the most part) tends to be that if I search a term and it leads me to Urban Dictionary, I dismiss it.
Most of all though, I'm curious to know how English teachers cope these days.
