Why not both? Physical instrument and electrochemistry both sit within the physique skill set.

After I hit post I realised this. Tough bastard drug cop I am (think training day with more mutton chops)

I think it's perfectly possible as long as people write their spoilers out considerately, like e.g. (this is a genuine but very mild spoiler for Disco Elysium):

Day 3, west side of map
Can't believe how much there is to see across the bridge, it's like the game just doubled in size! Being immediately greeted with the crashed car was so funny too.

I think the techniques to use are: 1. vague description at the start, 2. write the rest of what you want to say in a spoiler box, 3. use inline spoiler tags inside the spoiler box to cover particular details like the punchlines to jokes or the answers to mysteries.

That sounds like a lot but it's really not once you get into the habit of it. I try to do this anyway and it's not that much effort.

I do think this is the best compromise, but based on the way I play games I just don't think it's compatible for me personally! There are so many things that occured on my first play that were made special by me not expecting them, and the nature of that means I'd never want to open any spoilers until the whole thing is done (and maybe still not then as they will still potentially impact a future play!) and that kind of negates the whole point of doing a community play!

This is why I basically ignored the entire TotK thread for 6 months

Not wanting to be a Donny Downer and I may still join in with this in some capacity

Is it actually possible to fail/lock your progression out in this to where you would need to restart the game?

I'd like to know that as well really, also not sure if you can automatically timed out of events or not.

There are a handful of small events that you can miss out on if you don't access them before a certain day, but nothing major. The game makes it clear when you're about to reach a point of no return on the main mission if you have other side missions you still want to close off. The game also implies there is an overall time limit before the actions of others might progress things beyond your control, but if that is the case, the game is very generous with the time you have, as I have never seen anyone say that these events happened without them triggering it.

No idea for sure on the softlocking issue. I've read conflicting accounts elsewhere about if it's possible to do or not.

I don’t want to spoil it, but if you meet certain criteria and have no money it can end in a game over (I’ve never done it and I think you’d have to be pretty strong in conviction with the obviously bad idea/ route to trigger it. I know that sounds cryptic but I didn’t want to give anything away.
