I can't possibly claim that Sony won E3, because if winning is just being less of a jerk then I have no strawberry floating clue what's happened to the industry.

For me, Nintendo showed the most games I actually couldn't wait to get my hands on. Throughout the Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft conferences I can maybe pick out one game that actually appealed to me and even that's probably going to be gooseberry fool.

Microsoft's week before E3 2013 has been the biggest self-sabotage in gaming since Sony's $599 conference. There isn't much point in showing games if a significant portion of the folks watching can't play them. Nintendo is stuck in "deer in headlights" mode since the WiiU's launch, which leaves Sony to win E3 by default.

Sony's victory is a very hollow thing. They won by default, not because of any spectacular effort, which is kind of sad really. All they did was 1) offer a decent selection of games 2) not screw over their customers and 3) asked a reasonable price in hard times.

You may be thinking that achieving all those three points is doing pretty well but should not have all the big three met those points? It is a tad disappointing when only one console manufacturer can present a proposal that is actually attractive to a consumer. I remember the days when companies competed to offer the best, not to see who could disappoint the least.

Part of me died when the audience broke into applause at Sony announcing they would not be hamstringing people with DRM. Really? Is that how bad things are? We cheer whenever a company fails to screw us over? They do not deserve praise for that; we should expect it as standard.

Considering that the insiders are all aligning that the DRM is entirely Microsoft's idea and not one publisher asked for it, it does make some sence. As I said, it's the biggest self-sabotage in gaming since Sony's $599 E3 conference.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that customers > publishers though. That's not only because they are those ones spending all the money. Publishers will only come to your system if they believe there is a market there, so the priority is to create the market. If you attract a large enough user base then publishers have no choice but to come to your system. Everyone snubbed the Wii when Nintendo announced it; a year later people were falling over themselves to rush out games for the thing. Consumers are everything.

In other words, tell publishers to strawberry float off when they start asking for things that may put off customers, because without customers you are done for. This is what MS should have done. The problem is that they have the same mindset as the publishers in regards to their own software products and so they emphasised with the demand. Mistake.

Sony know this from experience I suppose. No doubt people would have preferred to publish on a cart based system like the N64 rather than the highly pirated PlayStation but the system was such a massive success that they really had no choice.

The thing is, publishers know that - and it's up to those publishers whether they put these anti-trading locks into their games or not. After this backlash can anyone honestly see any publisher locking a disc to one user in the near future? Especially if the insiders say none of them asked for it. Sure, it'll happen eventually, as soon as one brave publisher does it, they'll all follow suite, but in the first few years I don't think we'll have to worry about discs being locked. Discs will be freely tradable, the user-base will grow despite this early hate, and then the lockdown will come. But by that time we'll all be downloading our games from Xbox Live a week before the retail release, for £10 cheaper than the physical copies, while wearing silver space-suits and drinking space-cola.

In terms of games, Microsoft had the best gooseberry fool for me. New Halo. Crimson Dragon. Dead Rising. Sunset Overdrive. And they had a slightly tweaked and updated version of the greatest videogame controller of all time.

I agree with meep - they have a been taking something away from is since the ps3 was out and decided to abolish backwards compatible systems. Its all about money, and I am glad this time people have shown their feelngs towards MS. Really think BC needs to come back too - disappointed both sony and ms have abandoned it.

Shame you have to sell your soul to play them. No game is worth buying an Xbox One for. No strawberry floating way.

This is what made the PS1 and the PS2 such amazing systems. Not power, but the catalog that followed. it would be premature to think the same will happen with PS4, but yeah, Sony won this E3.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

I don't understand the people who judge consoles by the exclusives they are going to have. A little bit of self-control would go a long way in sending a message to the corporations about how they can't do whatever the strawberry float they want and get away with it.

Where's the Hugo option? For sheer entertainment value, he was the clear winner.

What did Nintendo announce? I giving the win to Sony although it was only because MS publicly killed themselves which is a shame as they have the best line up. Titanfall is the only game I'm interested in but fortunately it will be out for the PC anyway.

Sony and Nintendo. I'm more excited about the Nintendo stuff than anything else, mainly because I loved their games since the NES. I still think they have a few surprises lined up for future directs. Sony absolutely capitalized on Microsoft's approach, they came out of this smelling like roses and the PS4 looks really interesting. Really looking forward to purchasing one.

Microsoft really lost me. As it stands I won't be purchasing their new hardware. The 360 was the best console this gen for me, they just got too arrogant and draconian.

MS may have had a few Exclusives, but I like the way Hugo pads them out with Kinect titles and forgets the other Sony exclusives!

Forza 5 looks pretty decent, but the others don't really look like being top quality titles.

Sony's exclusives seem the most quality and diverse so far - Killzone looks the business, DriveClub is the perfect launch day arcade racer like PGR3 and Knack is something a bit different.

The launch games are not what counts and Sony have the power and the first party studios to provide a longer, sustainable bunch of quality titles.

I think there are less reasons to want an Xbox One, but if you prefer MS games, you always will even if they have less of them...
