Now all the conferences / showcases are done, who do you think won this year and why?

Conference scores and overall winner

EA - 3
Microsoft - 9
Bethesda - 6
Devolver - 4
Square Enix - 6
Ubisoft - 9
Sony - 7
Nintendo - 5

Winner - Microsoft

From an exclusives point of view Sony obviously has the better lineup, but for me E3 is about more than that. It’s also about getting to show games on your stage, the mood around your console and the actual presentation of the event, and for me MS did exactly what they needed to do on all fronts. While Ubi I think had the most entertaining conference all in all (for a second year in a row!) the lack of a big surprise like Splinter Cell held them back a little. MS with its blistering list of games it showed, the studio stuff and how positive it made you feel about the future of XBox just have them taking 2018 for me.

EA gonna EA, Nintendo gonna Nintendo, Sony had the biggest misstep, should have had it in the bag and the games they showed were ace but they botched the delivery.

Ubisoft, I went from zero interest to actually excited for their future output. It was fun, passionate and left me smiling.

Wish my image sig would work

I'll have to think about this, there were great games over the conference, so for me, it's hard to decide as plenty I'd like to buy was shown....

strawberry float Nintendo with it's Smash Direct though.

Yeah, Microsoft for me too

EA: 4
MS: 8
Beth: 5
Devolver: Didn't watch
Square: Didn't watch
Ubi: Heart 9 but head 8
Sony 6
Nintendo: Didn't watch
(PC Gaming show 3 even though they announced the game I'm working on oh strawberry float it was boring)

Ubi was the most fun by far. Everyone there was obviously passionate about their work and there was nary a whiff of corporate shelling. But MS knocked it out of the park with content. Game after game after game. And, of course, Cyberpunk.

A clear winner.

Kudos to Sony for trying something new but it really, really didn't work.

Pre conference I said MS would probably suck unless....... they did this and that etc. They basically ticked all the boxes I said they needed to really, so where as others deliverd what I thought or less MS basically did more. In short MS won in my opinion.

I think the games that were shown on the PC Gaming show were pretty interesting, it's just the rest of the show is boring.

Microsoft was the most enjoyable, and the only time I really got 'excited'. Sony's games were great, but we'd seen them all before, especially Spider-Man. Ubisoft showed some good stuff and at least they had the new AC to announce, even if it had been leaked. Bethesda had some new stuff, but wow, that Nintendo one. Maybe the worst E3 event I've ever seen.

Ubisoft are just great and I think are most in tune with what people want from E3

Adjusted my scores to lower Nintendo beneath Square and Bethesda as that was just weak.

Not Nintendo that's for damn sure. You've missed out the PC Gaming Show though.

EA - lol/10 - Typical EA conference. Corporate, dull and utterly predictable from start to finish.
MS - 9/10 - Some more clarity around exclusives would have helped, but they showed a load of games and some very good ones too.
Bethesda - 7/10 - Solid but a lack of gameplay footage for some of their games hurt them. Confirmation of Starfield and ESVI very welcome.
Square Enix - 5/10 - Decent looking games but a poor show. Notable absences really held them back.
Ubisoft - 8.5/10 - Some great looking games and an enjoyable show. Division 2 looking fantastic.
PC Gaming Show - 7/10 - Always a little different from the others with a good mix of different titles. Hitman 2 looking really good as well.
Sony - 7.5/10 - Amazing looking games but a really poor show overall. Could easily have been a pre-recorded Direct type presentation.
Nintendo - 5/10 - Nintendo's weakest showing in a few years. Nothing surprising and focussed far too much on Smash. Surprisingly light on content.
Devolver - 7/10 - As batshit mental as last year and the games they showed looked interesting enough. Loved the Robocop elements.

So for me it's MS overall with Ubisoft falling in behind them. Nintendo could pull it back a little if they have any interesting announcements during the Treehouse segments but I'm not holding my breath.

It's been a strange E3 this year. Everyone has had good games to show but the difference in presentation styles has had a huge impact for me.

Probably between Ubisoft and Microsoft, both had decent conferences, plenty to show.

I've never been so disappointed in a Nintendo Direct as I was today though, really should have called it a Smash Direct. Don't think there was even any surprises in the other 15-20 mins.

Sega won because they're bringing Yakuza to PC, and I've been waiting for that for strawberry floating ages.

EA - 3
Microsoft - 8
Bethesda - 6
Square Enix - 4
Ubisoft - 8
Sony - 5
Nintendo - 5

For me, the Microsoft and Ubi shows were the best by some distance. Microsoft ran a packed presentation that kept me interested throughout and Ubi delivered some genuine fun and backed it up with some great looking titles. I am disappointed with both the Sony and Nintendo presentations. Sony seemed uncoordinated and "coasting" whilst Nintendo didn't offer many - if any - wow moments beyond Smash.

I don't feel it was a "classic" E3 and I think part of that is that there were very few surprises; most things had been announced already.

Sony showed off some great-looking games albeit - for me personally - I'm probably only interested in Death Stranding. The presentation style seemed lacklustre and thrown-together, though; that start and the connections between each game were pretty poor in my view. Nintendo... I dunno. If I were a Smash fan I'd probably be in dream land, but there just weren't enough other "wow" moments to back that up. Overall, yeah - I'm comfortable with a 5/10 for both.

Note, though, that I'm not using the modern review scale of 5 meaning "terrible" and 9 meaning "quite good". By assigning a 5, I think that both presentations were average.

Microsoft for me. Excellent presentation, packed with games and exciting news.

Sony's was good but the disjointed nature of it made it feel very amateurish in appearance. Some great first party titles, though.

Ubisoft's was okay while EA and Nintendo's were pretty terrible.
