I got the email from Sony an hour ago. Downloading now.

Lets see how much of an improvement it is over the first - a game I didn't particularly like. Well, I didn't like it at all, if I'm being honest.

I played an early build of this at Leeds festival, where they had a little hut that you could play it in.

It was a little buggy, but I put that down to it being a fairly early build. Looks like if you are a fan of the original, you'll like this too.

heh.

The types of bugs were stuff like really bad clipping. Funnily enough, whenever you won, instead of coming in "1st", you come in "0th"

It's better, but it's still not a game I'd get at release.

It's faster & the rumble adds to the game considerably, as do the massive jumps (which now feel exciting - the ear popping sound effect when coming off a massive jump is damn convincing too. It's like taking off in an aeroplane every lap: "Oh, my ears have gone again."). Graphically however this is relatively poor, even if the damage modelling has been improved; cars now crumple as they do in Burnout Paradise, though not as drastically. The textures on the environments are verging on terrible. It could just be the track, but I can only see it getting worse on the volcano courses. It's going to be drab to the extreme.

There's no denying, even from playing this short 2 lap demo, it's an improvement over 1. By my calculations, Motorstorm 2 is scientifically 30% more exciting.

It feels like Motorstorm, with leaves. And the ability to do an 'F-Zero' style sideways barge :?

Great fun though.

You're not missing out on much guys. :|
It's just like the first one which I wasn't keen on.
The vehicles still corner as if they are in treacle, maybe it's just me.
There's too much restarting and the races don't flow for it to be very enjoyable, they have improved the overall look of it though.
Will be buying Pure over this on the basis of the demos.

Just had a quick blast and I aint all that impressed if I'm honest. It pretty much feels like DLC, rather than any kind of overhaul.

Y'see, every single problem I had with the first game has made it into this one (even the shimmering shadows are back with a vengence!). The game just punishes you severely for everything, and then just forbids you to try creating some fun. I just want to hold down the boost and go extremely fast for an entire straight, but I'm never allowed. Similarly, I want to zip around corners at high speed without the momentum carrying me off every cliff like something out of a Wiley Coyote skit.

The whole experience is just painfully frustrating and after the refined beauty that was the Pure demo, I'm struggling to think of anything that this has over it. Okay, the 4-player split screen gets kudos, but that's hardly much of a bargaining chip when there doesn't appear to be any genuine improvements over the first game.

Gonna wait for the reviews before deciding whether to hand over any cash for this, methinks.

In case people haven't realised the codes haven't actually expired...I presume that Sony are using the US dating system (month/day/year).

The vehicles feel less like proper machines & more like remote controlled, miniature versions for some reason. Like a toy.

Though I think Motorstorm 2 is an improvement over the first, I really don't think there's any need for a third in this series. It's time for them to move on to something else. Like WRC.

It does feel much like a few new tracks on the same game (as my wife commented) but it is still good. I'm sure it will do well.
