PostWhy can't I ever log-in to GRcade on my iPad?

Ever since I've had my iPad (over a year now) I've never been able to log-in to this place with it. I can get as far as inputting my details (including the correct password), but the screen just refreshes and I'm never actually logged-in. :|

Can anyone help? Is there something specific about iPad I need to know? It would be nice to be able to chat with you all while I'm away from my tower or my laptop.

Thanks!

It's part of the Mod Room conspiracy against you. ;)

No, in all seriousness, that's concerning. I think someone else was having a little bit of trouble with Safari on iOS too. Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache on the iPad? Are you remembering to check the box that says 'keep me logged in'?

I have just significantly reduced the amount of 'background checks' we do when a user attempts to login. It's possible this might fix the issue. Still clear your cookies and cache, make sure you're checking the auto-login box (it'll help, really!), and then let me know.

Thanks Karl. I just tried what you suggested (did you mean the 'remember me' button?). Still won't log me in. :( It's not giving me any password errors, etc. Just a screen refresh and no log-in. Yes, I'm on Safari.

EDIT: Just downloaded Chrome for iPad. It logged me into this place. :fp:

So it's some kind of Safari problem, after all.

Using an iPad Air 2 here and logging in just fine (with AutoFill).

Interesting. I don't really know why Safari would have trouble - PhpBB's login system is pretty standard and robust. It'll be interesting to hear if my changes made any difference to HM (he can log in for a while, but gets logged out again quickly).

The only thing I can really suggest with user-specific browser-specific things is trashing the cookies and cache in that browser, or if that fails, reinstalling the browser. I think clearly 'Safari' as an entity can handle logging in, so it must be something to do with those individual installations. I'm at a loss though really.

Thanks for your help. I think it just focused my mind to try a different browser on iPad - finally! :shifty:

I'm liking the new anti-Apple direction of the forum

Safari is one of the worst browsers around and anyone using it should be ashamed of themselves.

I think it can ask be blamed on Safaris blatant left wing bias

I still use safari on iOS because it's well optimised for the older device's hardware and loads pages faster.

Ban Tapatalk. I'm sick of seeing broken quotes that aren't later edited to be fixed.
