Why the **** are you going to a shop in kensington when you're in Kent ?

Cos I works just down the road on the edge of Hammersmith, yeah hammersmith, I'll let that sink in for a bit...

:( - seriously

TFL'd. hmm not too far..... go ask her out!

TFL'd? Transport for Londoned? WTF?

And I did ask her if she'd like to go for a coffee once, she just looked at her shoes and mumbled something. I know Asia has some odd customs by our standards but I took that to be a no.

:fp: I was looking to see how far H'Smith was from Kensington!! ;) thus using www.tfl.gov.uk to work it out!

A long time ago, in a town, far, far away I worked in Game, and everyone there loved games, I remember my interview was just a massive chat about what games I loved and why, and everyone who worked there was in a similar frame of mind. We were certainly never told too push any brand and I had quite a lot of fun.

You may of just got a muppet, or perhaps he had been dared by a colleague to switch sell you.

That said I cant think of the last time I went into game, let alone bought anything from them.

I refuse to shop at my local Game becuase a few of the staff are strawberry floating idiots, I have no real vendetta over then, as a few i know irl, but they are strawberry floating morons, like one of my best mates who personally knows strawberry float all about games and is always talking out of his arse about new releases, and another guy who is always trying to get every tom, dick and harry to play world of mummy strawberry floating warcraft!

I swear I've never met a fanboy in a Game store.

Kettering is alright, they were arguing about MGS4 last time I was in whilst rushing around serving customers.

Northampton is great, had a chat with the guy serving me about Crysis and PC Games 8-)

I prefer Gamestation in general though, don't know why.

I had a similar experience when I was asking about DS Lite bundles in Gamestation a few months ago. "You don't want one of those, you want a PSPEEEEEEEEEE!".

On the whole though, most of the staff in game shops near me are pretty knowledgeable and don't indulge in the fanwank nonsense.

I really dont bother with Game stores for a couple of reasons one i find their instore prices to be way too pricey, their pre-owned prices are ridiculous too. For a company that prides itselfs on being the UK's leading games distributor the staff they employ on a whole are useless, the staff should be like the staff in waterstones where they actually have a knowledge of the product they sell and can give good advice and recommendations.

In saying that i do think Game's website is very good their pre-order system is great every single game ive ever pre-ordered from Game has turned up the day before release without fail. Combine that with the rewards system the £5 off codes that spring up now and then and it does make for a pretty descent customer service experience.

A GAME employee once told me he loved my t-shirt. I then left the shop and burned it.

Totally depends on the manager, the store I worked at in Huddersfield tended to employ a mix of hot girls and knowledgable gamers, I think we were shit-hot. Some stores obviously don't give a gooseberry fool who they employ, which is a shame.

You should have asked to pre-order one of these Xbox Zeros.

Just googled it and the only relevent link (there's loads for Xbox Zero Hour) is this dead Digg link - http://digg.com/gaming_news/Microsoft_R ... ox_Console - Which would suggest that he's actually made this up out of thin air and then attempted to pass it off as fact, which is just weird. And scary.

I reckon you write to GAME customer services and tell them what you just told us, quote that MCV award quote too.

The GAME shop near me used to be really quite good; the staff, from the manager down, were genuine games enthusiasts. You could go in and have a damn good argument with them about anything from Mass Effect to Enduro Racer, from Spectrum to MacBook.
Unfortunately, they were a pretty tight knit group - which meant that they often used to go out as a group and get rat-arsed of an evening (indeed, you could often chat to a couple of them at a time in the pub a few doors down from the shop if you happened to be in there while they were on their lunch breaks...).
One weekend, a mate and I popped into the shop only to find it completely restaffed. I was surprisingly affronted by this, and promptly asked the new manager where the old staff had all gone. She responded that "they were just a complete waste of space, totally unprofessional etc etc".
Later, my mate asked her what consoles she owned. She said, "Oh, God! I'm a bit old for toys, love." That pretty much sums up the rest of the staff there, now, with the exception of one girl who plays World of Warcraft...and nothing else.

I still see a couple of the guys who used to work there, in their new places of employment. They still look pretty hung over, pretty much of the time, and both of them carry a vague expression upon their countenance that suggests that, really, they'd rather be talking about games.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

I stopped shopping in GAME when they stopped their “10 days rent as many games as you can thing”, I mean the “10 day return”.

I did like their old policy of selling second hand games at a higher price than new games. Always made me laugh, hmmmmmmm £20 new or £25 second hand.

Now I shop online and get games a day earlier or go to Grainger Games and get games very cheap. Sometimes I go into Gamestation too as they have a lot of geeky toys and some good retro stuff.

GAME is very much like HMV, for people who have no idea that other shops exist. £18 for a new DVD or £45 for a new game. And their points card is crap too, “if you sign up for one today and buy a PS3 and 5 games you’ll earn like £8” Wooo

Wish my image sig would work

you cant blame them for stopping it though, too many people used it as a rental service!

Why I do shop at GAME:

- My friend works there
- I get cheap games
- I also get MS points for free
- It doesn't smell like B.O.

Reasons I shop at GAME:

1. The shops are clean and well organised
2. The staff are helpful and friendly
3. Reward card which is especially good when you take into account their...
4. Free pre-orders with double points and often with free gifts
5. They almost always have stock of everything
6. They have good offers, loads of accessories are £5 or £10 off when bought with anything else
7. I can buy stuff from their site and return/exchange it in store
8. The shop is in a convenient place for me to get to

GAME's reward scheme is a joke. Spend £100 just to get £2.50 back when everyone else is selling their games for £5-10 cheaper straight off the shelve? Also, as an ex-Manager, I can tell you that GAME's deals aren't as good as you might think-they're actually a bit of a con.

"Buy one, get one free!"

Yeah, that would work if only GAME didn't put all the prices up of the games in said promotion. Remember that NDS title that was £19.99 a week ago? It's now £29.99 for the same game only its in the 'buy one get on 'free' promo'.

Yep, GAME's deals are cracking.

Still, why should I complain? Their shitty deals and prices & unknowledgable, uncaring staff means a lot of their customers now shop with us, so nice one GAME, keep up the crapness.

I've only got a week of working for these bastards left before I leave. The deals really are crap and the boss is also thinking of leaving just because of how shite it is.

I got £10 off a 360 wireless headset the other day, that seemed like a good deal, they had Ninja Gaiden 2 for £20 that seems a good deal too.

Almost every high street shop increases the price of items and then puts them in multibuy offers, it's not a GAME thing, it's a retail thing.
