Has anyone got a good Saturn emulator running?

I'm trying to re-live some fantastic memories of Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon Saga, but can't find a reliable emu.. :(

Notoriously painful because the console itself was a mess. I think my hyperspin setup uses an old version of ages. I'll check for you once I get back.

Will it be alright playing Mario Galaxy with a 360 controller? Or is a Wii Remote + Nunchuk recommended?

I've been revisiting the classic Mario games on snes9x (see avatar). It was a pain to get my gamepad working on OS X, but apart from that I've been having a blast! :D

Can't say I've had a problem playing it with a 360 pad once everything was mapped out correctly.

Well that's that then.

Dowloaded OpenEmu on my Macbook Air and hooked up my Wiimote and SNES Classic Controller. Just started Metroid: Zero mission and forgot how brilliant it was.

I see CoolROM seems to have been completely gutted of ROMs.

I've never really tried playing about with emulators before, but would it be that difficult to get the 3 Xenosaga games on PS2 up and running? I've always wanted to play those but obviously only the 2nd one came out over here.

Yeah PS2 emulation is pretty good at this point. It's not as user friendly as Dolphin yet, (Though even Dolphin has a lot of stuff you can tweak) and it's still a bit weird with certain games but it's definitely very capable. I'd recommend pcsx2 and checking forums for recommended settings for specific games (And any issues those games might have).

EDIT: A look at the Compatibility List for PCSX2 shows all three are finishable on the emu and should run pretty well (Depends on your system of course). 1+2 seem to have some bugs and glitches, but nothing game breaking. I'd just make sure you use save-states as well as normal game saves to ensure you can recover from anything you might encounter

So pcsx2 have their own forums with recommended game settings then?

I've been trying out some PS2 emulation since upgrading my PC at Christmas and have been hitting some issues with must games (largely around audio stutter / slowdown). I'd hoped it would all just work by now!

Yeah, it's all just a byproduct of the PS2 being really complex and hard to develop for when compared to something like the GameCube. A lot of games used weird hacks and workarounds to get working properly. Means you get some games that run near perfectly and others that absolutely tank the frame-rates.

Could do with some help is anyone is willing?

I downloaded Dolphin and then downloaded Twilight Princess from emuparadise. It came as a .rar and I'm aware it needs to be a .iso.

Could someone please tell me the best way to convert a .rar into a .iso? Preferably in simple terms... :slol:

A RAR is compressed file archive, like a ZIP file. You need to get a program that can UnRAR the file and let you access the juicy .iso contained within. WinRAR is probably the best bet. It's free and integrates into windows so you can just right click on the file you want to extract and choose "Extract here" or "Extract to <RAR NAME>".

As for Twilight Princess, it's been a while since I played it on Dolphin, but I know that Hyrule Field absolutely destroyed the framerate. Might be better now, but just something to be aware of.
