For ease of use and general quality a wired 360 pad is definitely the best way to go.

Windows recognises it natively, unlike other non-PC pads which require work-arounds, adapters and/or custom drivers.

Got a new graphics card for Christmas so I'm planning on trying out Dolphin to see what kind of improvement I'm getting from it. Not expecting much, but a few extra FPS would be nice.

Can I just use a USB Dongle + a MotionPlus Wiimote and a wireless sensor bar to enjoy Wii games on my PC?

What are the odds of a USB Dongle not working with those funky drivers?

Yup. Not done it myself but it's not too difficult to set up from what I've read.
MotionPlus emulation is coming along too I believe but it's not perfect yet.

Finally decided to get around to giving this a try.

Regarding the posts on the last age about not being able to find Wii ISO's on Emuparadise, if you check their forums, there's a whole section dedicated to them. Didn't know what game to try out first so going for Wind Wanker which is downloading now. Was hoping the file sizes would be smaller to be honest.

Is there any work-around for this issue, preferably without buying a new USB hub - I've already spent loads on this little emulation tangent...

I've already tried unplugging all the other USB devices (including mouse and keyboard - no ps2 connections for me :( ) and frankly I'm at my wit's end, having just purchased four new GC controllers. I guess I should have thought that one through first... , but since I've got a wii anyways, it just seemed to make sense.

So, any way to 'fix' the xbox wireless receiver issue, or anty cheap GC adapters going?

Thanks for the responses, btw.

Weird, do you mean just the Xbox controller receiver for Windows? I've got one and it works fine in a USB 2 port. Also, afaik the power requirements for USB 3 are identical to 2 and 1.

Try switching USB ports, otherwise it sounds like faulty hardware.

I also have a Gamecube USB adapter, works great.

Also, I believe the device itself predates USB, so is unlikely to require it.

By which you mean "predates USB 3.0"? I thought that too, but people online keep saying it, ergo the Internet sucks.

So, Slartibartfast, you must be correct and the equipment faulty, even though the blasted green light comes on...

On second thoughts, I simply cannot accept that. I will try again messing around with installing bastard drivers, though I'd've thought Microsoft software would automatically recognise Microsoft hardware?

:/
On Windows 7 it all just worked automatically (I realise this isn't helping too much), so I'm still gonna go with faulty hardware. Try it on another computer first, though.

I do indeed.

This may be what the Internet is referring to:
Also an issue that has arisen from this product is the amount of power in which the receiver draws. There have been many reports[citation needed] that the receiver will work for days, weeks, or couple of months then fail to "receive" the signal from the Xbox 360 controller. This issue has been solved in a number of ways by end users depending on where the damage from the excess power has manifested itself—in some cases simply purchasing a powered hub (which typically can provide a higher current than a PC port) will fix the issues while in others it may be necessary to work around a blown internal fuse.[6]

Got PS2 emulation up and running (pcsx2) but I'm having trouble with my controller setup. It's not smooth as I would like, for example the analog sticks feel like more dpad wise for example, if I change direction of sticks, main character would stop move for bit, then change his direction. Any way to fix that?

But overall, glad I got it up and running. Gamecube and Playstation 2 games on my PC, yes please :P

It's probably in the emulator input setup someplace. You'll need to map the axes directly to the emulated joypad.

I am considering buying DJ Hero/2 on either Wii or PS2 and emulating it on my PC, but i'm not sure how setting up the controller would work, will look into it. I'm leaning towards the Wii version as I actually have the console, but it's at the mrs', so when we get a place together I could play it legit and get the dlc for it too, but it'd be nice to be able to play it on PC too.

I'm currently at work, but will look at that later, has FoF expanded to DJ Hero then? That's impressive if it has...

I wouldn't bother, DJ Hero is a terrible excuse for a game.

And Frets on Fire isn't much better (can't see any mention of DJ Hero songs on the site, either)

My bad, my brain just saw <x> Hero and assumed we were talking about Guitar Hero. (Though, I thought you could import any song you wanted into Frets On Fire).

The strength of any rhythm action game depends on the soundtrack, and DJ Hero did nothing for me.

And the controller is terrible.

So I got my wireless gaming receiver thingy working... turns out the drivers I was getting from the MS hardware website were gooseberry fool. The main MS site had the goods though and uncle uncle Bob is yours.
