The A500 mini uses a system that relies on the 'all in one' system. I'm considering switching my Pi amiga over to that style because at the moment you have to mount the different disk ROMs and it's quite a fussy system. Doesn't work very well, in all honesty.

Many popular games can be downloaded in this 'whdload' format so it's looking promising.

That said, I don't know enough to actually answer your question, so further research is needed to work out how to get the setup correct.

Ive tinkered, tbf amiga has a much steeper curve that the other emulators, at least initially. I will keep digging

Amiga can definitely be a lot more involved, depending on how you want to work it.

WinUAE is probably the best way to go and if you follow some guides you can get WHDload up and running quite easily.

This is a decent playlist of video guides to get a virtual amiga set up.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... oL8v3-EhDP

You'll have WHDload games running quite quickly if you use them.

Howdy emulation fans. Would anyone be able to point a new emulation deck user in the direction of a reputable source of some emulatable software?

No one has seen a translated rom of Captain Rainbow have they? I tried to use a patcher to patch it myself but it kept deleting the file not patching it lol

Finally found out how tow decrypt 3ds roms to play them via Citra so have had a quick go on Fire Emblem Awakening. Need to figure out the best settings to use as its a little choppy and has minor graphical issues.

Finally managed to get Everybody's Golf running on RPCS3, tried it a couple of your ago and it just wouldn't even load.

Today proved better with it getting to the actual golfcourse before crashing, I then went into the GPU settings and randomly changed one thing (ticked enable colour buffer) which to my amazement allowed me to play an entire 9 hole tournament with a minor bit of slowdown but it works!

This was inspired by how well I managed to get the PSP one running on my Surface Go yesterday by changing the renderer from DirectX to Vulkan. It usually even struggles with more than 3 tabs in Firefox so I was impressed with the stable 40+fps it was running at

Had to switch to the second PS3 Everybody's Golf game (or Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational to give it its US name) as it crashes far less often.

The swing mechanic is a lot better too, it's a bit more forgiving with the timing.

Also, does anyone know how to install DLC in rpcs3? managed to find the pkg files for the extra characters online but when I try to add them in rpcs3 I just get an error message.

This is my current little emulator project

Image

I got the following load of stuff for £20 from a pawn store that was closing down on its last day.....

Image

The laptop was hardly working at all, it had all kinds of rubbish on it, full to the brim, too much software, too much spyware but I got it all working. Its on Windows Vista it has a dual core 1.7gig processor, 1gb of ram and a 120gig Hard-drive so its quiet low spec wise and there's no real room for upgrading it, if you can get the right speed of ram you could take it up to its max at 2gb but none of the sticks I have work. I have considered putting a 500gb Hardrive in but I think id sooner buy a caddy and turn my hardrive in to another portable one. If I couldn't get Vista working well and free of rubbish I would have gone down a simple linux install route, but I just find windows easier to work with. Its also missing the door for the hardrive but oh well its interesting to see what you can do with it. I did think that I could play some older PC games on it that don't work so well on a newer machine.

Might be worth looking into batocera mate. Would be perfect for a project like that

Having some serious stability issues with rpcs3 while Playing Hot Shots Golf World Invitational, have played over 45 hours with just a couple of crashes but starting yesterday its literally every 10 minutes when it freezes/locks up.

I'd increased the resolution and changed a couple of other settings before it started doing it but changing them back to what they were before hasn't fixed the issue.

Edit: installed latest AMD graphics drivers and it seems a bit more stable, played a full 18 holes without issue (also turned off in game music which seems to help too).

Based on a discussion in another thread about ditching high power consumpton electronics and sticking to a small emulating box, then realising how ridiculously expensive/out of stock the current Pi is, I found that apparently the Amazon Fire TV Cube is a pretty good emulation machine that does up to PSP/Dreamcast very well (not PS2/GC though unfortunately) and is a lot more available/cheap and can be expanded with external storage:

Plus you can sideload steam link to it, so could in theory stream emulating things like gc/ps2 or later from an emulator running on steam on another machine:

Have a look around the ETA Prime channel, they cover a lot of different devices in terms of emulation performance, including some low price ones, so might have some other alternatives to the cube.

So has anyone else been loading their Xbox Series consoles up with Retroarch and all the emulators or is that just me?
Got it hooked up to a 1TB USB drive and it's packed with just about every ROM I have, though I've had to hand-pick some of the larger disc based games.

Been playing the PS2 Simpsons Hit & Run game upscaled to 4K and it's really impressive.

I've even got it running DOSbox and Windows 95 games as well for strawberry float sake.

It's mostly a piece of piss to set up as well. No need for Dev mode anymore either, you can sideload them through the web browser. :D

Literally the only downsides I've found so far is that Retroarch doesn't support Mice or DolphinBar (For Wii games).
So if you want to play any DOS or Windows games the pad needs to be configured to act as the mouse and you'll need to find workarounds for any Wii games that require the Wiimote (And by extension it's motion controls).

I'll post some YT links later if anyone wants to know how to get started.

EDIT: Oh and abandon the eternal wait for Metroid Prime Remastered by playing the OG game upscaled to glorious 4K. :datass:

How to easily install Retroarch on ANY Xbox One/Series console without retail mode(I don't recommend the Xbox One or One X for this btw. Had nothing by trouble with my One X and performance was crap).

And that's pretty much you ready to go.

There is some tweaking here and there and the Retroarch PCSX2 core is nothing but grief (The appstore you install has another PS2 emulator on there which worked almost immediately and flawlessly), but by God is it worth it. Just need retroarch to support mouse and Dolphinbar and it would be perfect.

First time posting in a while. Picked up a Steam deck, really recommend it for the emulation. It does a great job of configuring everything, right down to individual Roms.

Been looking for a copy of Mario Galaxy 2. Anyone on here able to upload it to the folder? I can rip my own one on my Wii, but I’ve totally forgotten how to do it.

Its in the folder, it's just got a weird name. "Super Mario Galaxy More". I think it's one of the weird internal names Nintendo had for it. Like Wii Sports was called "Sports pack for revolution"

Due to massive harassment and personal attacks the dev of AetherSX2 (Android PS2 emulator) has ceased all further work on the project and has no plans to open source it.

Great going trolls :(

More likely they didn't want to carry on. I've no time or respect for closed source emulators.
