I think you can get USB Saturn controllers on Ebay, they're virtually the same layout as the 6-button MD pads so should be fairly near to the 'right' feel/

Or you could use an Xbone/PS4 controller.

So, thought I'd try out the GC emulation (first time I'd thought about this). Tried F-Zero GX first but the sound is screwed. Then tried Zelda and Mario Kart and although both appear to work, the graphics looked a bit cack. ...and then I found out about the internal setting - free HD remakes of GC games. Downloading a different version of F-Zero GX, hopefully that will work. Also tried RE4 but that didn't seem to get past the start screen, may try a different version of that.

Got a ROM from somewhere else that worked.

After some faffing with the controller setup, managed to play the Wii version of Mario Kart on my PC. As it plays in a higher resolution than the Wii, have to wonder how much effort goes into these so called "HD remakes"....

I'm right at the end of my mario sunshine playthrough on dolphin and it's been mostly brilliant. I always liked the game but it's far far better than I remember it being. It looks beautiful in high resolution too, as you say it makes you wonder why it can't just be plonked on a disc and sold again.

Shadows of the Colossus in glorious 60 frames and high resolution. PS2 emulators improvements happened a lot since I last checked.

How easy is PCSX2 to set up? I've used a Playstation emulator before (ePSXe?) and it was a right faff.

Anyway, with my new PC I've downloaded Dolphin - glorious. :datass: Playing games I've owned before and some that didn't get released over here or were impossible to find. Looks great, and near-constant 60fps on most titles is nice.

I'm pretty sure you can, just google USB Genesis pads or something similar. I was using a program that made PS3 pads work on a computer but AVG kept flagging it up as malware so I uninstalled it just in case. Wired 360 pads are plug and play on PC so I'm using one of those now. I have A, B and C mapped to X, A and B.

BOTW making progress already.

https://streamable.com/vm3ju

Video was recorded on following specs: i7-4790K, GTX 780, 8GB RAM. I choose to not alter the speed of the video to best represent how it actually runs. But I did prepare a shader cache so there is no extra suttering. Audio is muted because it is just white noise.

Lots of bugs that make the game unplayable. Physic glitches, rune abilities that require object selection don't work, no water collision, etc. Essentially it's impossible to leave the tutorial area without using a save.

Yeah was a piece of piss in the end, up and running in about 5 minutes. So many more games to play now. :datass: :dread:

No surprise given that there was nothing there to age.

Can you use a DS4 plugged straight into the USB for this?

I don't think a DS4 is plug and play but a wired 360 pad definitely is.

Ps4 pad works perfectly over Bluetooth and when set to emulate an xinput device.

I'm probably being an idiot but I'm struggling with this DS4 setup. I've created a profile and it's gone to the controls page where it has an image of the DS4 and selection for which button does what, but am I supposed to (for example) press X and then click on the image what X should be? Or am i assigned what I click to the keyboard.

Confused :(

edit: hmm seems I managed to get it to work perfectly for Blood Dragon, oh yeah :datass: :datass:

Just struggling to get it to work with Kega Fusion... can you even use DS4s on emulators?

Okay so I've managed to get my DS4 to work with Project64, had a quick go on Goldeneye and it was pretty responsive, still need to work out some of the buttons. Also downloaded roms for Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 as I've never played either.

I also got ZSNES and downloaded some of the classics on that that I've never played, can't figure out how to use my DS4 with that yet but perhaps that emulator's easier to use with a keyboard, I dunno?

Got PCSX2 as well but only had a quick play about on that, seems good though.

Going to have to take a look at the Dolphin guff, looks and sounds fantastic!

Emulation is amazing :toot:
