Nope, Sega was affected too.

Sega had been struggling with a financially inept leadership for years before they were forced to concede defeat.

and yet still sold 68 million already. they've yet to have a real flop outside Vita (and even that's only thus far).

could happen but as ms have already had one out of two suck sales wise then who knows. There's just know way you can even begin state facts about what'll happen when we know nothing of the machine.

could be the wiiu if the tab doesn't grab people, it's got little to make it essential outside the others if that gimmick doesn't catch on as the stick did (apart from the core nint games but that market looks more cube sized than wii sized).

Maybe they'll all suck as people finally turn away from them for good.

I could see a situation where all 3 consoles sell roughly the same amount, and there is no clear "winner".

I'm a bit worried about the next Xbox. At the time the 360 came out, Microsoft was really focusing on the games, securing big exlcusives, and getting previous Playstation exlcusives to go multi-platform. The last couple of years they've switched focus to the casual gamer, and being a media consumption device.

As for the Wii, I think launch window sales are still very much made up by the hardcore gamer, and not the casual gamer that made Wii such a success after it's launch. Most hardcore gamers I know were really excited by the Wii, but ended up being hugely disappointed so they're probably holding off this time until Mario/Zelda/Metroid are out.

Once Wii Fit U comes out, it'll sell like gangbusters.

Not so ideal for fanboys who love to gloat.

More peaceful though.

I think one dominant format would be better. I don't care which. It'd reduce development costs and maybe we'd see bigger publishers being a little more adventurous. These perpetual format wars just seem like a waste of time and money, but hopefully the PS4/NextBox architectures will be so similar that we'll have something closer to a unified platform this time.

Or we should all just buy gaming PCs running Linux and stick it to the man. Yeah.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Would not surprise me one tiny bit. Heck, the GamePad is just a VMU with knobs on, innit?

Didn't the XBOX sell more than the Gamecube? also didn't it come late to ther party? Did't really suck sales wise it it won out over the Cube.

Pretty sure it was out earlier than the Cube. It did just about outsell it, but it made enormous losses for MS, while the Cube turned a profit for Nintendo.

Weren't the worldwide figures for the Xbox and the Gamecube pretty close within a few million of each other or something like that with the Xbox just ahead?

Yup. That's my understanding of how it finished, at least.

Gamecube did 21.74 million; Xbox did 24.65 million. Xbox beat Gamecube in all territories except Japan.

Do I need nunchucks to play Nintendoland?

I think it's quite ridiculous to pay £45 for a controller set up. I have to get 4 Wii Remote Plus at £30 each and then potentially 4 nunchucks at £15 each :fp: :fp: :fp: :fp:

I haven't found a definitive list yet, but different games in Nintendoland have different hardware requirements. Most of the multi-player games will work with standard Wiimotes. The Metroid game certainly requires MotionPlus controllers and nunchuks though.

For the Metroid game you need a Wii mote plus and Nunchuck for extra players and for Zelda you need two Wii mote pluses for your sword wielding allies. Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Pikmin and Mario Chase only ask for bog standard Wii motes.
