That's a point I have a dolphin bar connected to the pc maybe I should restart on the Wii versions. If you're used to the GC I guess it would be fine but I keep trying the right stick.

AM2R had its hooks in me for now though. I think that guy got hired by the Ori people?

That's what I heard yeah.

But definitely give the Prime games ago with the Wiimote. Takes about 5-10 minutes to get used to, but it's much more intuitive. The only thing I missed was having the beam and visor selections on the D-Pad and right stick, but it works perfectly fine.

And that's Prime finished.

85% Completion so that's not too bad considering I never really went out of my way to look for anything. Think I was missing 1 energy tank, about 11 Missile upgrades, a couple of Power Bombs and the Ice Beam upgrade.

Onto Echoes tomorrow I think.

I completed Metroid Fusion today. Only my second game in the series, the first being the venerable Super Nintendo title. Honestly, I preferred Fusion by a significant margin. I thinks it’s because I hate feeling really lost in games with respawning enemies. For me, Fusion holds your hand just the right amount. Where does Zero Mission sit in this regard? And Samus returns for that matter?

It's been a long time since I beat zero mission but I don't remember it being linear at all, it is a remake of the first after all.

Samus returns is very linear, you just keep heading down.

Fusion was my first metroid game bought second hand on a whim for my new GBA. I thought from the cart art it was a shmup. I'm glad it wasn't.

Zero Mission basically shows you exactly where to go most of the time.

I remember Zero Mission telling you where to go at least some of the time. Play it - it's really good.

Phew that's a relief. Will pay it soon and then probably pick up Samus Returns. Thanks all!

Don't sleep on AM2R guys, it's different enough from Samus Returns to warrant playing and is in a lot of ways better. Best fan game since Sonic Mania (c'mon whitehead is from the fan game community).

Tried it (when I eventually got it working on my Mac) and it was alright but I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone was saying.

It was pretty damn good and very impressive for a fan game, but not the amazing. The highest praise I could give it was that it felt like a Metroid game.

Started Echoes earlier on tonight. Damn good, but it's markedly harder from Prime right from the off. Enemies are far spongier to start with.

Not too far yet. Spoke to the Luminoth dude and headed into the first main area (Agon Wastes I think). Looking forward to pushing on with it over the next week or two.

It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it scratches the 2D metroid itch very well. I would say so far it's way too easy is my main complaint. I've breezed through it and have every upgrade.

If you like the GBA games it's very similar gameplay.

It also has the most satisfying screw attack in any 2D metroid, you feel like a god damn monster.

Inspired by Devlin, I've got the old Wii set up (had to find a weird proprietary component cable adapter from Panasonic for my TV) and I'm playing Metroid Prime Trilogy. I'm currently in Phendrana drifts, doing the research facility bit. I've only played through it all the way once, when it first came out on Gamecube, so my memories are hazy, and I'm not using a guide.

I've never played Echoes, so that will be a treat once I've finished MP1. It took a little bit of getting used to for the Wii controls to feel right, but I do think it's better than the Gamecube ones, and the widescreen is nice too.

Nice stuff Winckle. It's a really good port in general and the Wiimote works well with it. I think the hint system in the Wii version is a little more generous than the original, so it will point you in the right direction if you get lost, but you can turn that off if you don't want it.

All Trilogy is missing is an HD version for Switch (Which we might still get). It looks amazing even with just a basic bump in resolution, so reworking the textures and lighting would make it even more gorgeous.

Are you playing on an emulator Devlin? I've seen some videos on youtube and it does look great.

I am. It looks gorgeous and really stands up. Even the textures look decent when blown up a bit. I've not found any Trilogy HD Texture packs, but I might have a dig about for one.

Got a Dolphin bar too which allows me to sync my Wiimotes up as well so it's essentially an HD Wii at this point. It works with all the accessories I've tried so far (Including a Guitar for GH/RB) and I've managed to dig out a Wii Fit balance board so I plan to give that a shot at some point.

The only prime game I've got left to play is 3, and as I've got a dolphin bar I thought I'd try it on there, but it didn't feel right (compared to how good it felt playing them on my Wii u, something just feels off). Also tried mouse and keyboard and that felt off too so i stopped playing.

I've not tried Prime 3 yet so I can't say but it felt perfect on Prime and Echoes. I've used it in a few other games though and not had any issues. It even worked fine with MotionPlus stuff like Wii Sports Resort (Though I've not brought myself to push through Skyward Sword enough to check that).

I'll see how it feels when I reach Corruption though.
