Actually, I was wrong there. It may be less than that as well, his remains were destroyed on Zebes, but Ridley from the original Metroid was rebuilt for the Prime games. In regards to outright killing him, I think Super Metroid was the only time she did that before Other M. She has defeated him 4 times, but he survived most of those battles. I could be wrong in saying that, my memory is a little fuzzy on the series lore.

Captain Kinopio wrote:I think a lot of people decided Other M was a travesty before playing it, it didn't help that reviewers totally underscored it, but then they seemed to be on a mission to get everything wrong last gen.

I agree with this. The amount of hate the game gets is unjustified.

Floex wrote:I hate motion controls so much  Can see me skipping this due to the horrible control method. I'll have to hold out hope they make it gamepad compatible.

The motion controls are fantastic. In my honest opinion, they make the original games better.

Can a classic controller pro/classic controller be used to play Metriod prime trilogy?

Argh, don't want to have to get a sensor bar out. Pain in the ass, got enough wires at the back of the telly as it is. That's why I bought a controller that switches between Classic controller and pro controller, so I can avoid stuff like that >.< Wii stuff can be so irritating at times.

You can use the GamePad as a sensor bar.

Hmm, tell me more. I'd be pointing the wiimote at the gamepad then? So I'd have to position the gamepad somewhere nearby the telly, or I'd have to have it nearby?

Yep, just point it at the GamePad so put the GamePad near your TV. Remember to use the correct sensor bar position (above or below the TV) setting in the Wii U menu. This applies to games in both Wii and Wii U mode.

I'm assuming it can be on its side, and not have have the screen visible and facing towards me?

You need the screen to be facing you because the sensor bar is just above the screen on the GamePad.

Hmm I'll try and see if that's a viable option a bit later on before buying this.

Already got PS cameras and PS moves and stuff, don't want to add another to the main telly, looks bad enough as it is!

You could just prop it up when you're playing Metroid. I do that when I'm playing Mario Kart so that I can see what items other people have. The fact that the GamePad is wireless, unless I need to charge it, makes it easier to keep in a drawer and set it up when I need it.

Yeah, they're some good points. If it works well, I may just pull the trigger.

I was never a fan of Metroid Prime, the scanning just slowed the game down too much for me. However, I've heard the trilogy controls better and scanning can be done much faster - so it may be worth a go :)

:datass:

The Wiimote controls are perfect for metroid, only slightly marred by flicking he remote to ball jump which wasn't precise enough for some tricky puzzles.

The classic bomb jump method remains but I actually prefer the flick jump, unless I'm doing a double jump.

I found the controls awkward until i changed to high sensitivity on the game options. Then it just clicked and really made it easier to play overall with the remote. Still prefer playing on the Gamecube controller I think.

Just booted this up for the first time. Had to faff around with candles and then the Gamepad as a sensor bar isn't really viable for playing on the TV as I don't have anywhere to stand it up.

Graphically it looks great though, once your eyes get used to the blur. I've got a wireless sensor bar somewhere that I'll dig out for this.
