Because it's all in Windows  There isn't much reason to sell two of the same product

Well every TV in a couple of years will be 'smart', Microsoft will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't compete with Google TV and iTV.

For example, if someone buys a TV that has Google TV, they're more likely to then buy a Google Android smartphone as it'll compliment their TV and they won't have to pay for all those apps again. The same goes for iPhone/iTV/Apple TV.

Microsoft's whole problem with Windows Phone is trying to convince Android/iPhone users to ditch despite already investing in a competitor's 'eco-system', if Microsoft want to keep up they need to be cramming their OS into as many products as they can.

Not really. All the "start button" did in the dev preview was open the charm menu, which already opens universally by mousing down to the bottom left corner. As such having a pretty flag taking up space in the dock was a bit pointless.

That was my reaction to the new logo. I know minimalism is the in thing, but if they wanted to go monochrome why didn't they just use the Windows Phone flag?

I'm assuming they're aiming to link it to the Metro interface tiles.

That's one of the worst logos I've ever seen. :|

Wait.... Ive just realised, where did they pluck 7 from for windows 7?

Windows 1
Windows 2
Windows 3
Windows 95 = 4
Windows 98 = 5
Windows ME = 6
Windows 2000 = 7
Windows XP= 8
Windows Vista = 9
Windows 7 = 10

And that's forgetting about the various versions of NT.

I like the way that they've motified the original logo from 1985 reflecting there history and matching the Metro design, personally I'd prefer if they kept the red, blue, green, yellow colours.

Oh and...

Windows 1
Windows 2
Windows 3
Windows 95 = 4.0
Windows 98 = 4.1
Windows ME = 4.2
Windows 2000 = 4.3
Windows XP= 5
Windows Vista = 6
Windows 7 = 7

What does windows 8 even do? Shouldn't they wait a few more years to release this?

Must say i can't see a reason to get this at all yet. I think I'll skip this one, as i should have done Vista, unless i get a device with it on.
