Windows boot problems

My mums pc says invalid boot.ini they don't have the windows disc I tried to boot from disc with mine but it won't any ideas how I can fix it ?

They don't mind if I format if need be.

Checked if there's a disc in any of the drives? It might be going to that drive first, not finding the ini file and then throwing a paddy.
