I was really interested in the Sony Erricson one when it was first announced but I think that's been shelved? I'd like to get away from iPhones to be honest, I've got a bit bored of them now after 4 of them.

I only read a little about the OS when it was unveiled and it seemed to offer iPhone OS1 with LIVE features. Anything been patched in since like Pasting etc?

I think they've added Copy and paste now, but I think it's more dependent on the handset than the OS. Still pretty ridiculous they didn't support it from day one after the furore about the lack of copy and paste in iOS.

Now I've got an iPhone 4, I haven't really been paying much attention to WP7, but depending on how well they keep the Live functionality going, I might pick one up when I fancy a change. One of my friends was playing ilomilo on his a few days ago and acting like it was the greatest thing in the world :shifty:

Thanks Frank

I just don't use my iPhone fully really. I don't think I've downloaded a single new app since I got an iPhone 4 :fp:  I think my heaviest appstore downloading session was 3G launch day

I don't really play games on mine so that rules out most apps, and I'm too jewish to pay for utility things.

It's loaded with music too so I've got no room for video recording either :( I can normally get a few minutes of footage before it locks up and tells me I have no room left. Which is a peeve of mine, you can't free up space easily on iPhone unless you connect it to your main computer :fp: The only thing you can remove is Apps and any pictures/videos you've taken (added from computer through iTunes can't be removed either like music) and if you don't have many that doesn't leave for much space on fly.

Copy and paste hasn't been added yet. Its part of the first update in the next few weeks. Reason it wasn't there form the start was simply the team creating the new OS was tiny so they just didn't have a chance. but hopefully with this tie up with nokia the updates will come out quicker and have more features.

Just watched this... watch how he completely ignores the question about flash.

Remember all the reports and crying troll you did in the many Apple threads? Yeah, don't become what you hate ;)

Don't get me wrong, I applaud Microsoft for not including flash. It's a waste of time (although they could have at least tried to include Silverlight). I'm just laughing at how he completely ignores the question.

You're only saying it's a waste of time because the iPhone doesn't have it.

I'm one of those Luddites who wants my phone just to be a phone so no the Windows phone 7 does nothing for me. All these smart phones are massively overpriced and the contracts are insane yet people seem fine with that.
I can get all the stuff on an ipod touch with no contract and a decent phone for the calls for almost nothing compared to the cost of a smart phone.
I know I'm not going to convince anyone of my stance on this but I just don't understand the appeal.

I guess you're right. Flash has performed so well on mobile devices, it's just me being an Apple fan boy.

No thanks.

Edit: So it doesn't get lost...
I think I should make this point more relevant. I have played a little with some Windows Phone 7 phones since launch, and while I doubt I would ever buy one I would rather have one over Android. I like the idea of being able to get relevant info I need on the front screen, although I doubt I actually need to. It's certainly a pretty top screen to look at, but once you delve into it I still can't get on with rows and rows of white on black writing. I would have rather seen an expansion of the tiles thing used more throughout the os.

So you'd rather a Windows phone over Android? As much as it's possible, I think you're just saying that to troll me.

For your information, HTC Sense is quite modular and customisable. You can have widgets for pretty much anything on your home screen if you want. I can't speak for non-HTC Android phones...

Well easy thing to do is dont get a contract. I have a sim only contract thats 7.50 a month. I buy my phones myself i sold my HD7 for 265 and then got my omnia 7 for 440 so it only cost me 175 quid which is cheaper then a ipod touch and phone!

I quite like those, they certainly stand out more than most of the generic hardware. Do they all come with those three touchscreen buttons though? Aren't any manufacturers making the physical buttons?

I dont like the touch buttons can be a bit annoying when playing a game or something and hitting them. Asus have got a phone in development with proper buttons not sure why they are the only ones

Widgets are a core Android thing, although the Sense widgets will only work on Sense launcher due to using their own proprietary gubbins.

As for Flash being a waste of time, neither Microsoft or Apple develop Flash, so it's only Adobe who would be "wasting time" by supporting iOS and WP7. Microsoft and Apple simply don't allow it. Again, the argument for this is that Flash is a bit of a system hog, affecting performance and battery life. Not using it makes for more consistent performance, but personally I'd much rather have the choice.

Apple disallow Flash because they don't like the idea of an app working on one of their devices without the author having greased their palms first.

Aren't Apple trying to kill Flash because they bum HTML5 and Microsoft bum Silverlight?

Windows Phone 7 does look very nice.

However, I'm more than happy with my iOS on my iPod Touch. It's not a phone, but it does everything I want it to. Hell, I don't even use a mobile very much.

If it was a choice between any of the OSes for a phone, I'd say it would have to be Android, though.
