They haven't had a new flagship in a while (to much annoyance), their next one is planned for the Windows 10 launch.

Tile haters rejoice, with Windows 10 Mobile you can now set tile transparency meaning that, if set to 0%, you only see the icon.

Full transparency probably works best if all icons are set to medium so that they're the same size and the app name shows the border.

Personally, I think 50% looks the best. As with Windows 8.1, you can set it so that the gaps between tiles are black/white.

I'm deserting windows phone in my next upgrade. The os is awesome and rubs like a dream for years without showing but I have got sick of the spoddiness of the app experience with so many apps that I am leaving if makes put in just a bit more effort it would awesome but they seem to do the minimum and you get a clunky experience because of it.

Worth bearing in mind that...

- Porting apps from Android/iOS to Windows 10 will be a doddle
- The Universal app platform will bring more PC apps

Yeah but I did the "well this and that is coming" with Phone 7 and 8 so I have very little faith anything will improve. Plus porting will lead to lazy port jobs that run like crap but the maker looks like they putting in effort.

Looks bloddy horrid. The 1020 i could accept a protruding camera because it was revolutionary, but now no no no.

On the upside, it seems to have a removable cover/battery, which would be a first for a Lumia 9XX.

Why not? Aesthetically, it's very similar to the Lumia 640. The cover looks practically the same.

If Windows 10 Phone gave me a proper desktop mode and the ability to slot the device into some sort of laptop shaped shell and use it that way I would probably buy one in a heartbeat. If I had a fold away keyboard and screen combo with a phone like that I could probably pretty much ditch laptops/tablets and all that crap and just have a phone and PC. I'm waiting to see if something like this materialises before considering getting one. Otherwise I will probably just plump for the newest Moto G device.

The front screen is way too busy for me but I like the button positions and the screen looks okay (if these are not just renders and are actual images of the device) I hope that's not a camera bump, I hate those.
