It makes more sense than the 13xx series. Downside is I don't think we will see a 1520 replacement at 6" as MS said the found 5.7 the biggest people could handle

OneDrive Integration is Live!

We’re happy to announce that Xbox Music has integrated with OneDrive to allow access to your entire personal music collection from your Xbox Music application for free! As of today, any music files that you upload to your new “Music” folder in OneDrive will start to show up in your collection on music.xbox.com and in the Xbox Music apps for Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1, Xbox 360, and Xbox One – no Music Pass required! If you do have a Xbox Music Pass, you even get an extra 100GB of storage on your OneDrive!

All the music I had on OneDrive has filtered through to the Xbox Music phone app automatically just now, awesome :D

Windows 10 for phone supports USB Mass Storage, peripherals and hubs

Microsoft has shed more light on what USB scenarios the Windows 10 for Mobile SKU will support during their WinHEC conference in China.

Microsoft has added support for the new USB Type-C standard for Windows 10 for phone, which is not only smaller than Type-A but offers more power and functions. Apple – to cheers and jeers – announced that their new MacBook would sport this (and only this) port in lieu of their mag connector or standard USB port.

Now, it is clear that hardware vendors can not only build Windows Phones with USB Type-C but also enable various device class drivers.

In one of the slides in the presentation, a list of USB Host class drivers is given that are supported in the Windows 10 for Mobile SKU. The drivers include:

USB Hubs
Human Interface Device (HID) for keyboard and mice
USB Mass Storage
USB Audio in / out

Additionally, USB Serial Devices, USB Bluetooth, and Generic USB Host Driver are also mentioned. However, it looks like USB driver installation by the user will not be supported.

USB Dual Role is also allowed. This format just means the phone can change between USB Host or USB Device (like when you plug in a video camera to your computer and it gives you options for connecting).

Finally, in an interesting slide from the same presentation, multiple devices are shown as being able to connect to Windows Phone running Windows 10, including an Xbox controller and external display.

We should caution that there is no evidence that proper docking is supported by the Windows 10 for Mobile SKU, as has been rumored. In fact, during a session dedicated to docking in Windows 10, phone was specifically avoided in the discussion for vendors. However, the USB support outlined here goes a long way in delivering something analogous for owners of Windows 10 on the phone.

There is no doubt that being able to connect up USB peripherals to your phone or 7-inch tablet is the dream for mobile enthusiasts. Microsoft looks to be making this a reality when USB Type-C products become more widely available in the second half of 2015 (just in time for that flagship Lumia).

I've just bought the 640 (non XL) and with the 5" screen its already a beast (upgraded for the 3.8" Lumia 620). I've had to reorganise my start screen layout so that larger tiles occupy the upper left of the screen so I'm not stretching my thumb all the way up there for taps.

For £150 (Pay & Go) I'd say it's the best value mid-range phone out there, the specs and screen are comparable to the iPhone 6, amazing value.

Ive had a busy day  Upgraded my 630 to 10 to see what its like it worked pretty well so decided to do my 1520. I then tried to see what the camera app was like and noticed my camera will not focus at all jumps all over the shop. Had a look online i think the OIS has gone i have a strong feeling when they fixed the screen they did something. So its going back to MS. Also mentioned the phantom touches i've had since it was repaired hopefully its fixed.

So i went to rollback my 630 to 8 and yea....ended up bricking it! had to uninstall all the recovery stuff on my pc and the drivers and managed to get the 630 working. So stuck with my 630 for now

Unlucky bro.

I'll be keeping my 620 as a backup/car phone, but I plan to test Windows 10 on it next week when I have more time.

Just getting used to the 640 first. This doesn't have any physical buttons and I have to keep swiping up from the bottom to display the taskbar, is there any way of locking it in place.

Also, there was no option to carry texts from my 620 using the Transfer my Data app, are there any alternative methods?

got my 1520 back! and the screen seems ok! the camera though hasnt changed at all. Apparently a software fix was done on the phone.....hmmmm maybe that calibrated the screen but its clear the camera is just broke. I can't take a pic of anything more than a ft away without it becoming a blurry mess. Ive sent a complaint hoping i get this sorted soon

continuum looks pretty amazing to be fair. it really shows off this one windows idea. On my phone front i sent my 1520 back in they said it was fine had to argue with the CS people and got escalated to a manager who insisted i was basically lying but in the end he said take some photos and film to prove it which i did and today he said the repair centre say thats not enough!!! so now im stuck waiting for the UK people i wanted to speak to in the first place to contact me! oh so much fun!

Windows 10 supports Intel Atom, I wonder if we'll soon be able to run desktop PC apps on Lumias.

That Continuum stuff looks good and the ease of porting Android and iOS apps should improve the overall situation for the OS now. You'd have to be a right strawberry float nugget if you were making Windows Phones and didn't see an improvement in sales once Windows 10 hits.

Nevermind.

If they want to boost Lumia sales they need adverts showing Continuum.

"Lumia 940, phone and PC in one".

Bundle in the monitor/keyboard adaptor too.

well it should help app development being able to port so easily and then so many people that can use that one app which cant be done anywhere else. you dont even need any adaptors for it. like today the miracast app came out for preview members on xbone with windows 10 i could just cast stuff to my xbox like office for example and still use whatsapp on my phone

So the CERT team are useless they sent one email on thursday at 4pm....nothing after and its a bank holiday now of course. I decided to just go to a care point. it was like an hour and halfs travel and cost but credit to the guy there i said the camera had an issue he opened the app and said straight away what was wrong i didnt even have to tell him. So now the repairs going through them instead while i have to travel and pay to collect it if they fix it ill be happy.

I thought id continue the story even if no one is reading! got an email from the supervisor of the repair centre saying they are very sorry for all of this and as a goodwill gesture they gave me a £40 MS voucher which to be fair is nice of them. Im now just waiting for my phone to be fixed and i should be good!
