Based on the rumoured pricing which puts this in Galaxy S/ iPhone territory Microsoft would probably make more money selling their inventory of parts to someone like Huawei or another company that actually sells phones. Unless they are hiding something spectacular you'd have to be an idiot to choose this over Android or iOS at the same price.

What is the rumoured price? This needs to be no more than £350 if they want to take customers from Apple and Android. My son is holding on for an upgrade from his 920 but he won't spend £500+

€650 for the standard. €740 for the XL.

£480/540 ish.

That seems a bit silly. Clearly MS don't want to expand the Windows phone userbase.

Official Google Apps to be unveiled at Microsoft's Windows hardware event later today?

I'd certainly welcome official Chrome, Google Now, Google Maps and YouTube apps :)

I'd be shocked if that happened but itd be great to see.

I'm hoping for aggressive pricing on the Lumias and the band. Paul Thurrott had a rumour about a 14 inch 4K surface with dual GPUs but that'd be way outside my price range.

I would imagine it is productivity focused with Office and such and accessing files from cloud storage. More a thing for business folk who can plumb the little box up to hotel TVs and things and not need a laptop.

If you have the cash it's normally far cheaper to buy the phone outright. I paid £200 for my Lumia 930 and £10pm for my sim (3000 mins, unltd texts, unltd data). So over two years that works out at £18.33 per month, assuming I keep it for two years which I don't have to.

my wife did a similar thing for a lumia 650 i think it was but she isn't much of a techy. nice budget phone though. I guess i just like all the high end stuff.

A 930 is currently the high-end Windows Phone. ;-)

oh i did not know that, i guess 500 is steep then. It's kind of the norm for apple and htc phones newly released. Depending on the price when my contract runs out then i might get a 930 if it still holds up well in March.

Well I didn't buy it new, I think a brand new 930 when it was first released was £450. Even at that price it would still be cheaper than taking out a £40 contract on one.

Do they have any other phones to release at the same time? I can't see anyone taking a monthly contract and then picking a Windows phone over an iPhone or Samsung S6 Edge. I'm sure the price is going to drop to £300 very quickly.

I buy my phones off contract and will be looking to replace my phone end of next year, but I certainly wouldn't want to spend more than £300.
