Currently enjoying a South African white. Used it to accompany a 'cola chicken' meal and to be honest I think I'm going to polish off the whole thing over the next hour or so. Come across this one on your garden route, Eight?

It's very well balanced, leaning slightly toward the dry end of the spectrum. Lovely stuff.

Edit - here's where I got it from: https://www.nakedwines.com/wines/arabella-chenin-blanc-2014.htm

I'm a cider man. I'll drink wine with company but I don't really like it. Think the best one I ever had was on honeymoon but then that makes sense because I actually bought one that cost more than a fiver.

We got a case of wine from naked wines last month, including a bottle of that Chenin Blanc. I haven't got round to trying it out yet - but everything else from the case has been of really really good quality! Will definitely be a repeat customer. I got suckered in by the little stories they tell you about each of their vineyards/producers as well :slol:

Ah, cool. No, I didn't taste that on my travels. Although I did do a couple of tasting sessions with all sorts of stuff included, so who knows!

Good stuff. That was the second one from the case I bought. The first was a Rosé, which was surprisingly nice. I admit to having had a prejudice against Rosé (too many pre-drinking sessions earlier in life with teenage girls) and I am not ashamed to say I have learnt my lesson!

This is tonight's tipple: http://imgur.com/Gc7qxJc

Only a Tesco bottle, but it was on offer and I was lured in by the vintage. It is very rich and not particularly smooth. To be honest, the plum is a little overbearing. It's not a subtle wine, that's for sure. I am surprised by the 12.5% alcoholic volume indicated on the bottle.

I like wine in general (although never Rosé) but I always seem to get terrible hangovers if I have a bit too much of it.

I'm always fine but my wife gets some mega hangovers from drinking wine especially red wine but she really likes the taste.

One of the reasons I enjoy drinking wine so much is because it is the only type of alcohol that doesn't seem to give me a horrendous hangover!

That rioja fared slightly better after having been open a while, but still wasn't great.

Just bought this case of Sauvignon blanc as I spotted it on offer. The 1000 bonus clubcard points had something to do with it as well :shifty:

Wow. Rhubarb, can I join the GRcade Naked Wines Buyers Club?

Something like this Rioja comes along and reminds you why you love wine.

It is absolutely delicious. After the sledgehammer that was the 2009 reserva, I have a 2013 product that has the same fruity vibrance but with a subtlety that makes it a pleasure to drink. I think it's one of the nicest reds I have ever tried.

Marvelous!

I suspect we may have ordered the same case... :slol:

Did yours come with two crystal wine glasses and a bottle of olive oil?

Did you have a go on that red, Rhubarb?

I finally got the chance to try the Brancott Estate I ordered from Tesco the other day. The picture doesn't do it justice at all, but it's probably the best looking bottle I've seen for a long time.

It is seriously grapefruity and if you don't like your wine sharp you probably wouldn't enjoy it. Luckily, I do!

I have a feeling it's going to get a bit too much on its own after a while. Better get the chicken on the go so I can keep drinking...

That feeling when a crate of wine worth just over £100 lands at your door... :datass:

Cracked one of the reds open and I'm on it now. Glorious stuff, and I've got a sausage casserole in the oven to go with it. Who said Mondays can't be great? (Yes, the WHO did, I know :( I bought the sausages before their report came out!)

I know the feeling, have spaghetti bolognaise (with bacon) and had a pretty heavy weekend drinking but what kind of monster doesn't have a bit of red with spag bol?

I know that I am practically talking to myself in this thread, but oh my god...

This is incredible. I am pretty sure you can pick it up from most supermarkets. If you're stuck for a Christmas present for someone into red wine, be stuck no more!!

:toot:

I am now going to cook steak and drink the entire bottle.

Am I the only one that looks at the wine list in restaurants and picks the 3rd least expensive.

Probably not. Wine is outrageously overpriced in 'average and above' restaurants. However, there is a placebo effect (proved by scientiffic papiers) that makes wine taste better the more you pay for it. In my experience, without shame, it is absolutely true. :slol:
