Winx DVD or DVD ripper advice

Want to pu all my DVD’s on an external drive, found WinX for £7 on EBay (should be £35)

Is this the cheapest or anyone know where I can get it free or recommend me an alternative please

MakeMKV has a free 30 day trial, but the trial resets everytime windows updates. Which is every 30 days or less.
It'll rip them as raw MKV files, but you can re-encode them with Handbrake to reduce the file size (Quite significantly) without any noticeable loss of quality.

Back in the day I'd use handbreak, and even before H.265 the file sizes were great. Main thing you need to keep in mind is subtitles. If it's a film you've not wanted yet you need to see if it has the occasional bit of foreign dialogue, and then if it were hard or soft coded. You'd be surprised how often a major film has two lines of major dialogue in non English, or a sci fi film in a made up alien language.
Also, it's a major time investment ripping then encoding each one one by one, only to watch them once or twice.
Honestly, it's easier just to download a Blu-ray rip.
