If you passed up on it, you may also want to check out Doom (2016). Different dev, similarly bonkers/awesome gunplay.

Wargh! I almost messed up big time: saved game before pain in arse boss, allowed game to download new update, got annoyed at boss and logged out of game, moments later logged back in and updated game. Game restarted back at start of level :!: because the versions of the game are different :fp: What I hope is the solution: delete game, reinstall, update to first patch, try to reload save again, don't update to latest patch until done with pain in arse boss. :ngh:

edit:  it didn't work. Seems to download both original patch and 1.02 together. :fp:

It has fantastic art direction tho, i wouldnt say its really ugly. But it DOES have motherfuckin' HORRIFIC aliasing issues. I fired it up last night as i plan on replaying it once i finish my NG+ of Wolf 2 and i was shocked at how bad the aliasing is. Gotta look into a way to add proper anti aliasing to it.

Id also wholeheartedly recommend Wolfenstein: The Old Blood DLC. Its an awesome standalone bit of DLC that acts as a prequel to TNO. Its more zany than TNO but its awesome. It feels like a HD re imagining of the best levels from Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

I know the console versions have this adaptive resolution thing that makes it look like balls at certain points. Can't imagine that would be the case on PC.

 :toot: Why did she rip her kit off like that?

Really enjoyed that. Gunplay was as good as W:TNO but I don't recall ever being at a loss as to what to do next in TNO, whereas with TNC there were a number of occasions where I was running around looking for ways to progress the mission. Part of that is because the game actually gives you multiple (though slightly superficial) ways to make progress in the latter half of the game and that's great, but the other reason is it's just not clear what you're supposed to do next. I'm all for minimal hand holding but it's gone too far the other way when I find myself running about like a headless chicken.

Still a very, very good game and one which I hope gets an expansion.

Well....that's certainly one way to solve the problem of BJ slowly dying from his injuries.

In one call Anywa makes to BJ before that happens, she talks about how the violence is starting to make her "excited"
At least thats why i assumed it happened. Like jsut when you thought youd seen all the weirdness the game had to throw at you, that happened!

Yeah i honestly think my only complaints about the game are the weapon wheel is dreadful and can spoil gunfughts at times when you get stuck fiddling around with it, there needed to be a bigger diversity in environments, there were far too many levels jsut set in mechanical looking Nazi bases (i was so bummed we didnt get a full on mission set in Roswell killing off KKK members), but thats about it. Hopefully the DLC is good, but id prefer if they jsut took 5 or 6 months and came out with an Old Blood style expansion really

Re Anya: Yeah, I recall that conversation :slol:

Other stuff game did well: perks, upgrades and contraptions. All three added a bit of depth without going too deep into it (like maybe collecting loot for upgrades, etc) and making the game something it isn't.

Another small touch I loved: the way you can manoeuvre melee targets whilst melee animation plays out. I dunno if doing so made their bodies bullet sponges for incoming fire but I went in pretending it did. Felt *really* satisfying.

I've been making steady, but slow progress in this so far.

Finished the Roswell section and visited the old homestead. It was great to get a look into BJ's childhood and especially to see his old man show up. It was genuinely thrilling to kill the old bastard.

Sat through the cutscenes and story parts until the trial which is where I left it, though I did play a few minutes after breaking free.

Genuinely surprised how much I'm enjoying the story in this as I don't remember the story in TNO being as good. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Overall, the sense is that Xbox One X offers up a big win over the Pro in terms of image quality and delivers a beautiful 4K gaming experience, but the core gameplay remains much the same, and those performance issues can be intrusive.

I probably won't play it for a while as I want to replay The New Order first.

Bought in the Store sale. Even though I know it'll be much cheaper in the not too distant future :fp:

Is the gun play in this actually bad or is it just a case of people not being used to shooters that aren't modern style FPS games? This sounds like something I'll really enjoy and I want a good shooter for my shiny new 4K machine.

*edit* Just to be clear, I haven't played the first game.

Gun play seems fine to me although I did have to turn off aim assist (PC by the way).

May have already been posted but this is currently £19.99 on Xbox and PS4 in store at GAME at the moment.. probably same or cheaper on PC but didn't check..

They also have it online for same price and you get a nice looking Steel Book with it too. Not bad for a month old release..
