They also have it online for same price and you get a nice looking Steel Book with it too. Not bad for a month old release..

£29.99 isn't it?

I picked it up and was £19.99.. think it had previously been reduced to £29.99 so guess the £19.99 might be today only..

Link to web version with steel book (use the drop down to pick your format):

In store, same price but no steel book though guess that *might* vary by store.

You're missing out. Ditto The Old Blood expansion.

Gun play is fine. (It's even better in the previous 2 games.) It's the lack of clarity on where you need to go/what you need to do to progress I took issue with. You're never stuck for too long, but having to search where to go next even for a few minutes messes things up when a game is all about *pew pew pew*.

Story seems very intense.

They're not close to endless. Just keep mowing 'em down (brutalising as many Nazis as possible is half the fun of these games) and the officers will eventually come to you.
Keep at it. It'll grip you. Maybe not as well as the first game, but it definitely has its moments.

I picked it up for £7.50. I've got a few games in the sale so I'll pick up W2 in the sale or just wait for the Switch version.

W2 is down to £19.99 for the Xbox One on Amazon. Seems like they don't have the PS4 version in stock just now.

Quick question for anyone who has finished the game:

I'm at the mission that starts with a judge sentencing you to death, how much more game is there?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

About 1/3rd of the game left id say

I read in the tutorial section about bonus missions you get for collecting Enigma codes, but I've not had the chance to do any despite collecting the codes from every single officer I've encountered so far. Does this happen later on?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

The darkness of the game is starting to piss me off. As is the small amount of health and the ease at which the enemies spot you and how quickly gooseberry fool goes down the minute they spot you.

Are you playing stealth? Go in guns blazing!

I never go by recommended brightness adjustment at start of games.

Health pool will eventually increase but at the cost of 50% max armour allowance :slol: I'm pretty sure that's how it worked for me.

That section can be tougher than most, aye. Best tip is to keep moving and make use of the turrets on outer edges of the room.

Brerlappin wrote:The low health really is an illusion. Because you have 50% health but 200% armour, which acts essentially as health. It's really not that tough at all, I only had difficulty at one point in the whole game

Toughest bits for me were the court and the in the resistance (East cost) apartment fights.

Top tip: Buy a silencer for your pistol and go for headshots.

I take it that same tactic works with the first game? I'm hoping I can play it the way I play Doom.

The stealth stuff sounds fun but my usual approach to stealth in these types of games is:

- Take out one guard with silenced weapon or melee

- Panic

The silencer works well, especially for the officers. They're the only dickheads the bother me. How long is this game? Im in manhattan, do I have long left?

Also, there seems to be a distinct lack of decent guns, is there a sniper in this?

Yes. Double yes.

Stealth works up to a point and then you get caught and end up slaughtering everyone out in the open anyway. Save yourself time and BLAM! away from the start.

No idea how much longer you have left. It's not a long game.

One of the guns has a scope upgrade. Meatiest weapon, other than the minigun like turret, is probably the shotgun.

Think I’m nearing the end of this and have bloody loved it. I love how strawberry floating bonkers the cutscenes are and I don’t think I’ve ever played a game with such a fantastic cast of characters.

I’ve found the gunplay a bit hit and miss, maybe I’m gooseberry fool at shooters but I just seem to spray bullets all over the place, there doesn’t seem to be much finesse in the aiming and the stealth sections almost seem a complete waste of time. It’s satisfying to blast through Nazis and at its best when the music is blasting out, just shooting like a maniac is a real hoot. A lot of the time though I feel like I’m just running through corridors to get to the next cutscene which is where the real fun is to be had.

A note on the music too, it’s strawberry floating brilliant. The balance between music volume and dialogue is a bit off but when some nutcase new character is shouting out a hilarious (funniest game I’ve ever played easily) speech and the guitars are blasting away in the background it’s just fantastic. Not sure if I’d tip this soundtrack over Zelda because it’s a bit one dimensional but fucky hoo it’s great.

The difficulty I’ve found wavers all over the place too. I started on default but got to a brick wall so lowered it, then never died so put it back up again and have been banging my head against a wall for a bit. It’s a shame that I encounter plenty of problems with the actual mechanics of playing the game because I’m loving my time with it and wish I could spend longer sessions with it.

Despite the problems, definitely up there with 2nd tier GOTYs for me, possibly my second favourite game of the year behind Zelda of course.

So I have strawberry floating thoughts about this game. Bullet point thoughts.

The bad:

- The gunplay is full of highs and lows. When gooseberry fool goes down it can look spectacular. Some of the effects are jawdropping, especially the laser blasts, flames and melting effects. Level design is consistently poor however, meaning I got lost frequently.
- The new Contraptions seem throwaway and poorly utilised. I missed the cutting tool.
- The war map system is half-baked at best, and utterly superfluous at worst.

The good.

- Best characters in a video game this year, hands down. It was a few hours in when I realised I loved these characters in a way usually reserved for characters in a book or long running TV show.
- The animations and acting are strawberry floating sublime. There's a moment where Anya tastes peanut butter for the first time that could easily be missed and it's one of the best animation/voice acting performances I've ever seen.
- If Bethesda/Machinegames truly weren't trying to be political they strawberry floated up good and proper. I mean, the credits roll over a Rage Against the Machine-esque song and end with the word RISE and a woman doing the Black Power salute. strawberry floating shivers.
-Hitler was spoiled for me but still...that scene was amazing. Especially loved the nod to the fact that he's actually undead, as suggested in The Old Blood after BJ killed him at the end of the original Wolfenstein 3D ("makeup...yes, magical")

I disagree with Skippy's score of 7/10, even though he did a good job of justifying his position. It's a worse shooter but better game than TNO, mainly due to the poor level design. In terms of an entry in the argument of games as art though it does more to further the idea than any other I've played this year (true, this does not include any Switch games). It's a complex beast that's one part pulp schlock-horror and one part sobering war diary with the running theme of exhaustion and loss of will to fight being incredibly relevant in today's world, whether it was intended or not.

strawberry float, I could write for another 1000 words about this game, about Frau Engel's amazing villain, about the constant skewering of the alt-right and their portrayal in the media, its complex delve into parenthood, it's joyous B-movie bloodiness, and the fact that the first guy to get shot in the audition is Ronald strawberry floating Reagan (check his chair).

What a strawberry floating game.

Just hit the part where the german lady from the beginning loses her gooseberry fool

I think in nearing the end. Gutted really. I love these. I echo everything thats been said above. Such bad level design..the uber commander thing had scope to be decent but is dogshit. But the characters are wonderful. The story is great. And could easily be a general chat on Twitter thats how gooseberry fool the world is atm.

Pls make another one.
