I'm not really enjoying this as much as I did the main game. Not sure if it's because of the setting or what :(

This game is absolutely kicking my arse, even on normal. The waves of enemies the game throws at you is just too much *cries*

Cmon Buff, you're better than this! :slol:

Have you buffed your health and armour? Don't forget if you run and hide for a second, health regenerates to the nearest 10 or 20. Use cover and lean too.

I shall try again when I'm not as hungover. It's towards the end of Chapter 4, the game is just throwing 4 different enemy types at me, all are horrendous bullet sponges to boot. I've unlocked 1 health-related perk but could really do with them all.

Is that after a certain torture scene and you are left with just your pipe and incoming?

I found that enemies bunched. Use your exploding pistol thing and I found that cover was a must.

There are a few areas like it, it's a bit cheap.

Just a little ways past that bit, I have to open the big doors to get the cable car outta there. I can flip the switch, but all bloody hell breaks loose.

Excellent, cheers buff.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

I quite enjoyed killing rudi's dog.. I also found in that section that running out into the tunnel with the small doors (right across from where you flip the switch and probably where you arrived from after killing commanders) you can restrict the flow of bad guys. Also, the big super guy can't squeeze through. The game is cheap, and I found some cheap ways to succeed.

Simply Games are selling the PS4 version of The Old Blood for £9.85 for a limited time, which is the lowest I have seen it.

I was going to buy it to play over E3 in June but thought that I may as well get it now for that price.

The Xbox One version is still £11.85.

No idea when it will return to the standard price - could be Midnight.

Here's what I thought.

Nice review. I know it's a little while since you posted it, but I didn't want to watch it until I had finished the game.

I agree with most of things that you said.
I did enjoy both chapters of the game though and really liked the change of direction in Chapter 2. It had a great Raiders of the Lost Ark vibe being so centred around the occult. The last boss was a let down but probably made for better opposition than an old Nazi woman with one leg!

Just finished The Old Blood last night, great fun and a perfectly paced little game. Reminded me of playing MoH on the PS1. Need to have a go at the challenges on Uber.

This is something I love doing as well! I remember picking up RTCW a week or so before Christmas 2001 and playing an awful lot of it over that winter, so it definitely brings back some good Christmas memories. Still love replaying the single player, but the multiplayer side was also a massive draw back in the day, only game I ever got in the "clan" scene with, happy days!

The fun I had with this is in those days before Christmas actually encouraged me to repeat this approach in future years - getting games on Christmas day is great, but there's something fun about having a nice new game to play during the build up to Christmas. The fun with RTCW as well was that it was an impulse purchase, I hadn't really read up on it before hand and just took a punt and ended up having a blast. Most years following this I've aimed to get another game that I've not necessarily been anticipating shortly before Christmas and have ended up having some really enjoyable times. Nothing has topped RTCW for my pre-Crimbo Game crown yet though!

Finished this today. Enjoyed it overall but the whole thing became a frustrating slog in the second half with the insane amount of mechs and armoured enemies it threw at you. :dread: Having to constantly run back to the recharge station to fill up the only gun that was good at killing them was just awful. Still, great game and a nice ending. Why was Blazkowicz whispering the entire game, though? That bothered me to no end.

More games need levels set on the moon (or in space), that place looked stunning. There's just something about a lunar environment that really appeals to me.

Apparently, 2016 will mark Wolfenstein's 35th anniversary. I mean that's great news in and of itself, but surely Bethesda/MachineGames will want to mark the occasion with a new release? Here's hoping. :toot:

Up to the end of Chapter 11 now and still loving this, my only gripe is with the much enemies and the inconsistency with the amount of shots it takes to kill them, other than that I find the shooting to be really fun. It could do with a Doom style health regen system as it's hard to go in gun blazing when you don't know if there will be any health or armour. The level design, secrets and writing have all been great so far.
