Final boss: I unloaded a whole clip of rifle grenades + 4 more + a few regular grenades at the strawberry floater and he just would not go down. Then on the umpteenth attempt I went ah strawberry float it and just lit it up with the laser (primary fire), with a few recharges in between, and *BAM* down he went.

Just looked up who MachineGames are and this is their first game I've properly enjoyed and actually finished. I never bought their Riddick games when they were at Starbreeze, and the Darkness games just never hooked me. This on the other hand hooked me from the get go; I had such a good time playing it that I'm starting it again for a quick blast on the harder difficulty setting before moving on to Diablo III UEE/TWD Series 2.

You've missed out on not playing Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay.

It's part of Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena which contains both games. Got mine from GOG, DRM free version.

I had no idea of this connection, and having read about it here I went straight out and got the game having previously had very little interest in it. I love the Riddick games, The Darkness is just superb, and I am very happy to take a punt just on these guy's prior output.

Never would have bothered with it otherwise. Thanks for the info, SoK.

This place, man.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

I finished this this morning and I have to say I loved it from start to finish, a really brilliant game.

Loved the gunplay, the stealth was excellent and the mix of the two play styles kept the game fresh and interesting throughout.

The end boss wasn't great, it has to be said, and to be honest I couldn't really see what I was doing with all the fire and smoke. After a few failed attempts using some sort of strategy and trying to recharge the laser guns, I managed to beat him easily by simply standing more or less directly in front of him, ducking in and out from behind a pillar and unloading every strawberry floating bullet from every strawberry floating gun I had. He died very quickly using this method, which was a bit disappointing really!

Cracking game though, an easy 9/10 for me!

That's a good, and well edited video review, Anung. :)

It's not technically a reboot though. I believe it's entirely in continuity with Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein 2009, which I forgot even existed.

Cracking choice at the start of this, do you want to save the guy who's been talking to you all prologue or one of the other random soldiers?

Not sure that I'm entirely comfortable with an exploitation revenge game doing a POIGNANT labour camp sequence (complete with washed out colours like Schindler's List!). Especially when the B movie characters of camp nazi and shapely woman nazi are in it.

I have this on the way from Boomerang right now. I'm going in to the game almost completely blind. I didn't like the last Wolfenstein but I'm hearing good things about this, hopefully I'll enjoy it.

woop woop! Stand alone expansion coming in May from MachineGames.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a prequel to The New Order, coming this May

Bethesda Softworks and developer MachineGames will release Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a prequel to last year's outstanding Wolfenstein: The New Order, this May. The stand-alone game will be set in the months leading up to The New Order, as protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz returns to Castle Wolfenstein and contends with ancient mystical powers that could fall into Nazi hands.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is set in early 1946. Blazkowicz will embark on a two-part mission in the game. The first is titled "Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves" and sees B.J. battle "a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead's compound." The second part is titled "The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs" and sends our hero to Wulfburg, where he meets "an obsessed Nazi archaeologist [who] is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power."

The new Wolfenstein will feature new environments, new enemies and new weapons, some of which you can see in the game's debut trailer above.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a downloadable game that won't require a copy of The New Order to play. It's priced at $19.99 and will be released May 5. The stand-alone game is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Unlike The New Order, it appears that The Old Blood won't be coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Bethesda says to expect more on Wolfenstein: The Old Blood later this week. Additional gameplay will be revealed at PAX East at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7 on Twitch.
