It chugs apparently.

Definitely one for the summer drought I think

So glad EDGE decided not to be all sniffy about this game and gave it well-deserved 8. Yes, it's faintly archaic, a real throwback at times, and always ridiculous; but it's a fantastic game despite all that. I went for an 8.5/10. Not perfect, but damn, it's fun.

I didn't think the game looked good at all, so I'm surprised by these review scores. Bodes well for Doom 4.

How does this compare to Return to Castle Wolfenstein? Is it a similar style of play? I'm playing RtCW at the minute and I'd forgotten just how much you could use stealth and it's also a bitch finding all the secrets. The game has held up really well after all these years.

Now there's a phrase I haven't heard in years.

How does this run on PC? I thought my rig could still chug along nicely, but Titanfall really brought it to its knees. I don't know why because it looks like gooseberry fool compared to other stuff I can play. I'm on a GTX 560Ti if anyone can make a comparison.

Runs fine on my laptop just like TF which is played with everything on max.

I'm on 560 rather than 560Ti and Wolfenstein plays fine for me. Granted I just left the options to default rather than put everything on max but it still looks nice.

Just found out you can use voice commands instead of weapon wheel to switch weapons - List of commands

And platinumed. Phew. Very well worth it indeed, enjoyed it all the way through, or I wouldn't have been motivated enough to play it through 3 times in 10 days.

I really wanna try this game but can't bring myself to pay £40 for it just yet. I've never played a Wolfenstein game before but this looks fun.

I did a naughty and snatched a ps4 copy for £35 on ebay, right before 3 exam. Fail. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

Just beaten it, I might go back and mop up collections then do another playthrough with different timeline but for now I'm glad I've beaten it :)

Other than final boss & the ending I loved everything about it. Great game

Put this in to play and there's a 5GB patch? What on earth does it do?

The game is huge on PC. It's probably just a regular patch.

Yeah, the PS4 version requires a 5Gb patch and the Xbox One version a 7.2Gb patch. Bethesda hasn't detailed what they contain.

On PS4 this means that the hard drive space required is a minimum of 52Gb; a 47Gb initial install and then the 5Gb patch. I think I'm right in saying that this is more than would fit on a blu-ray disc (i.e. 50Gb). Perhaps this is why we've got such a large Day One patch? Although, perhaps not as I guess the data is compressed on the disc.

I recall reading on the forum that the game engine used (id5?) requires a lot of space for the graphic textures. The Xbox 360 version (which may use a different engine?) comes on four discs.

I've no doubt a tech-wiz will leap in and drop a 68000 processor on me if any of these aspects are wrong :-).

FYI a game would use a single engine across all platforms. You build the game *with* the engine, middleware takes care of the platform specifics.

EDIT: a nice test to see what's missing is if you can fully play the game without the patch, you're most likely right - and some textures will probably look bare. I kind of find it unacceptable asking consumers to do a 5+ GB download, it's really lazy. You didn't get any of this incomplete/broken (silent hill hd) game gooseberry fool back in the day before last gen.

Double edit: having said that, i finished the game yesterday, and i personally think it's the best game since the last of us - and i have an exceptionally high and unrealistic standard. I frickin loved all the clichés, music, game mechanics, levels, story. It just seemed really mature.

Whilst not a 'bargain', the price of the game has been reduced by game.co.uk; PS4 and XBO versions are now £32. Click here to view.

EDIT: Amazon has price-matched game.co.uk's offer.

Cheers, I've been waiting for this to drop.
