Not initially. I'm waiting until after Christmas.

I thought they were rolling any day now?

I think it's finally time to cattle prod march my friend into GAME for one of these so I can properly whup his ass on Halo 3. (He's a screen-starer.)

I'll be upgrading to an Elite as soon as the Jasper models are available.

Have you got a link?

I've read some conflicting reports. Are you sure it's not just the chips that are currently in production? It could be true, but how long before exisiting 90nm stocks are depleted and "Jasper" 360s actually reach shelves? It won't be possible to tell from the box, so unless you're willing to take a gamble it's best to wait a bit I think.

It'd be great if MS shipped them with a "Jasper Edition" sticker on the box, but they won't do that.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I think the Jasper units use less power so you can tell from the power input. The temperature thing is the main cause of Rrod, the fluctuating temperature causes the motherboard to warp and eventually removes the GPU from its solder. They have improved this with a more expensive clamp and epoxy resin which is why failiure rates have improved but it's still not totally corrected the problem.

I believe that the PSU should be under 175 watts for the Jasper revision. I suppose you could demand to see the PSU before buying one, but MS may just stick with the old PSU anyway.

We'll just have to wait until some kindly techno-nerds break their warranties and have a nosey.

The recent 60 gig falcons were 175 (i just looked) so that'd be right I reckon.

Isn't there a sticker on the box that gives the power input? I'll check when I get home.

Also with the price cut you can now buy a 60gb 360 and a spare arcade model in case it breaks for the price of a PS3 ;)

Yes there is.

Yep, Arcade is cheaper than a PSP with any storage. Bloomin bargain really.
