I didn't know hyperbole was pronounced like that, so duly noted.

Growing up I pronounced 'th' sounds with 'f' or 'v' sounds for some reason. Think I may have picked it up from my mother or other people I grew up with. I was already in the middle of secondary school when someone pointed it out to me and I didn't immediately get what they meant since it sounded all the same to me. Eventually I did start distinguishing the sounds and started to correct this, but even now I sometimes have to make a conscious effort to say stuff properly.

Later on I was diagnosed with mild dyslexia, so that was probably a factor.

The Coventry accent pretty much doesn't have a th sound, so you'd have a hard time differentiating between me saying th and f. The interesting thing is that I can't really hear a difference even with people who do pronounce them (supposedly) differently.

I have quite a few words but I can’t no of them right now, they just pop up in conversation where I repeat the word over and over trying to get it right.

I always remember as a kid struggling with shoulder and soldier.

Talking of the army, I always struggle with lieutenant.

I know the British way of saying it is "left-tenant" but I have seen so many American movies that I can't help but say "loo-tenant".

Being Northern irish, I have trouble pronouncing basically everything. I’ve mostly tamed my goblin accent into something most of the English I live and work around are able to understand, but it’s still a daily struggle.

I can pronounce words but I still get mixed up when speaking sometimes, I know what I mean to say but say something slightly different, which is sometimes pretty funny when it's pointed out

When I was a kid I couldn't say "millenium". It always came out as "minellium". I can say it now though.

I'm not the greatest at talking clearly and there are quite a few words that I stumble over. Reading through the previous posts, I also think "hyper bowl" for "hyperbole" even though I usually say it correctly. I can relate to issues around the word "millennium", too - I'll say "mile any emm" .

I never get "phenomenon" or "phenomenal" right... often I'll break off halfway through saying 'em!

Oh, and I tend to say "Sega" pretty randomly; sometimes "Say ga" but usually "See ga" (the correct way ;-) ).

There’s only one way to pronounce Sega.

That's the thing, though; everyone here in the UK used to talk about Sega's arcade machines and Master System as "See ga"... and then, come the 90s, "Say ga" started cropping up in Mega Drive game title openings! I guess that most folk say the "newer" version nowdays, but I still throw a lot of "See ga"'s into conversation :) .

What's tricky about saying wipers?

Wipers is okay, but the proper pronunciation seems to be either 'eeps', or 'eepra'

I like to think that was Sega's way of going "Oh for strawberry float sake, this is how you say it!"

Karl. I have trouble pronouncing that as my natural accent makes me roll the R and it sounds weird.

I don't have trouble saying it but my brother in law, who comes from Durham, loves how we pronounce "Purple". Again, a bit more emphasis on the R in that one.

General english I'm absolutely fine with. But at work I have to deal with a certain welsh transit company who like to correct me when I say the station names wrong. Like strawberry float me you obviously know what the place is when you're correcting me but I'm sorry I'm never going on holiday to Ystradgynlais so I DONT CARE HOW YOU SAY IT
