When trying to generate epic football banter around the World Cup period, I aim to say 'Three cheers for Ramirez!' but it often comes out as 'Three cheers for Marirez!'.

This is a tongue twister issue rather than difficulty with an individual word. I have failed the thread.

Ever since I was a little boy (and I'm like Jawa-age; although it has never been 'See-ga' in my neck of the woods), my brain sees the word 'doing' and reads it as 'boing'. This can be quite embarrassing if reading an important speech.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

A good one I hear quite a bit is people saying 'palytic'...meaning they were paralytic the night before.

I sometimes get my 'f' and 'th' sounds mixed up. For example, saying "I went out thor dinner" instead of "for dinner".

I've always had a problem with it and it's really embarrassing. It just happens sometimes without me realising.

What's tricky about saying wipers?

Wipers is okay, but the proper pronunciation seems to be either 'eeps', or 'eepra'

There is a pub near me called the Ypres and I can confirm that by everyone is pronounced wipers.

The wipers pronunciation came about during WW1, as a lot of the soldiers couldn't pronounce it either and so they just used wipers because it was easier.

I went there on a school trip and I got the impression that the people there (or at least the guides involved with the history) are quite fond of or maybe amused by the British calling it Wipers.

Been there a few times, stayed at the Novotel just around the corner from the Menin Gate, the atmosphere generated during the Last Post is really quite something.

There's some awesome chocolate shops too.

When I'm lecturing, I always get tongue tied when I say "Excel Spreadsheet". Just cannot say those words.

Yeah but it is correct.

I'd just go with Excel File, its easier to say and more valid as really the file is an Excel Workbook not an Excel Spreadsheet.

I've just realised that that isn't the phrase I struggle with at all. I struggle with "Microsoft Excel". For some reason I always end up turning into Sean Connery and saying "Microshoft ekshel".

The Sean Connery edition of Excel can only process hyperbolic functions

I can't think of many words I can't pronounce but the wife has quite a few, a lot of them are of Irish origin to be fair, she just labels them different names to get by.

The town of Drogheda (pronounced Dro-heh-da) she just calls Drogba, Local pub Meaghers (pronounced Mars) she calls meegers, both of these are fair enough but she can't say Massachusetts, she says "massa-two-shits" instead ALL THE TIME.
