Walmart should be shut down, the lack of unionisation over there lets them treat employees horribly and never be punished.

It's amazing how one day of sales turns so many people into a bunch of Neanderthals. The shops are just as bad for pretty much encouraging it, or at least doing nothing to control the crowd of mad, raving lunatics.

Yep, they can get away with a lot in regards to how companies treat workers in the US. It's one of the reasons I'm glad I live in Europe where sure we have our own problems but we do tend to take care of people a little better (from my limited understanding at least) and are not as mercenary and quick to throw people on the scrap heap as the US is.

All I can imagine is a fat, ravenously greedy crowd with snouts and trotters oinking with delight at 10% off the Blu-ray player they had to have. I feel physically sick that people can be that savage over a saving on something they probably didn't need.

Frist shopping day after Thanksgiving, considered the first day for Christmas shopping. Stores in America traditionally open early and have massive discounts.

Such a tragic story. What makes it even worse is that many of these people grabbing cut-price limited merchandise will probably stick it straight on eBay to sell at twice the price.

Its a bit like our boxing day sales, but no-where near as chaotic and uncivilised.

But saying that didn't someone die when a new Ikea opened in this country this year?

I know someone working in Walmart. She's part time, but they make her do full time shifts, she's worked there a year and only now has one day of holiday (when we here get over a dozen), her father became very ill recently and she was told she could visit him - after she got back, they gave her a bollocking for it. If she's ill, she has to go in anyway or risk being fired, and that includes vomiting sicknesses. She can't complain or they'll fire her. She won't quit because jobs are hard to come by as it is there, but with this recession business they're near impossible to find.

Honestly, they treat employees like olde worlde slaves there. Unions FTMFW.

This thread = ignorance.

Remember when Primark opened on Oxford Street and heads bum rushed the doors as well???

The same thing happens over here as well mayne.

It was just un-fortunate in this case that someone died.
