It wasn't really though, was it? I mean, it wasn't, really.

It was disappointing, gutting, a little sloppy at times. Even despite not being a great team ourselves, we had it well within our capabilities to see the game out at 1-0.

But it wasn't pathetic.

France have defeated Croatia every time they’ve played them in the last 5 games.

Napoleon will be celebrating on Sunday.

One shot on goal in 120 minutes is pretty pathetic, in my view. When you’ve got 20 and 30 goal a season EPL strikers against Dejan Lovren and a keeper with a dodgy hamstring, you need to be doing a hell of a lot better than that.

Tunisia - so very nearly typical performance and result but last minute goal meant it wasnt

Panama - not typical as battered a crap team for a change.

Belgium - didn't matter.

Columbia - typical last minute equaliser but definetly not typical shoot out.

Sweden - comfortable QF win. Not typical

Croatia - take the lead in the first half and look comfortable. Not typical.

Second half - TYPICAL!

Everyone knows the only tournament which matters if the Uefa Nations League, in which we will play Croatia again.

I agree with Gary. Must be something up with Kane as during the only England games I actually watched, this and Sweden, he just wasn't doing much.

This.

Can we not petition someone to ban ITV from showing England games?

It was a good World Cup.

But obviously we’d be disappointing as we probably won’t get a better chance for a while to get to the final. Croatia are a decent team but they not a international giant like Brazil, France or Germany. Going out to those teams we been used to it.

I am by no means an expert, but from my observation every England game I watched this year they always seemed the more robotic side, technically very good but often lacking the raw instinct to take advantage of opportunities on the fly the same way other great teams do. This is why they rely so much on set pieces to score and cannot find the net in free play. Maybe that is because the current squad is so young and don't have a great intuition yet, I don't know.

I think Spurs rushed Kane back too quickly from his injury late on in the season, he's been poor since then...

My criticism of the squad selection was always the amount of defenders and lack of defenders. I still don't understand why Cahill and Jones were there when he could have had Wilshere, Shelvy even Drinkwater who might have been able to create something.

If he was carrying an injury he shouldn’t have been playing - that’s terrible management and a complete lack of trust in the likes of Vardy, and also a complete lack of a plan B from the management.

It’s too early and we don’t have enough knowledge to criticise yet but if any player has started over another one while carrying a significant injury, that’s atrocious.

Yeah that’s not a bad assessment.

Think Alli was given too much game time in the tournament in general. It’s difficult to have a pop at Southatgate’s faith in selecting the same team given how far we got, but I don’t remember him being much more than a passenger for the whole tournament (goal aside). At least Lingard looked like he was capable of finding a pass or beating a player at times, Alli seemed to preoccupied with appealing for fouls every time he lost the ball.

Drinkwater isn’t getting in any squads. He refused to join the squad for a friendly.
