Seriously though I can't say I care either way. I was cheering on Croatia last night, but not through any ingrained hatred of the English but because I felt they were more of the underdog and the pundits/media were already writing them off as beaten. As the perennial underdogs ourselves I tend to support them as much as possible.
Scotland/England is the world oldest International fixture and we've always had what I've thought of as a friendly rivalry. Certainly I don't hold any genuine malice in any of the jokes I post. But I wouldn't cheer for Rangers in the Champions League (In theory obvs
) after Celtic went out so why would I cheer for England in an international tournament?
Yes there are those for whom it's not friendly and is due to a genuine hate for England and the English, but I've never met those people and I don't believe that's representative of the majority of Scottish people who view it as just a football rivalry. For example I felt Limmy was going a little too far with his trolling last night, but it's hard to tell when he's playing something up for a laugh or is being genuine
I'm genuinely disappointed for the England fans (Knuckle-dragging, Brexit voting ENGURLUND fuckwits aside) and I'm happy that you guys had such a good tournament. Mistakes were made both on and off the pitch sure and I can't say that I thought you deserved to win last night, but if Southgate can build on this team you're a genuine shout for the Euros and 2022. So well done for the fans and the players. Ha ha to the pundits and the media who were already planning the Final well before kick-off, and here's to the
friendly rivalry continuing.
Slightly off topic my belief in our own team is higher than it's been in a long time. I genuinely feel like we're going to make either the Euros or 2022.
Oh and the #itscominghome meme went from amusing to obnoxious really strawberry floating quick up here.
