So? Stuart Pearce scored in a penalty shootout in the semi-finals of Euro 96. I don't think that made him one of the best players of all time.

It doesn't mean he didn't score is the point.

Scoring in a penalty shootout doesn't count as a goal though.

There's an argument to be made that you can measure Messi's contribution to Argentina in 2014 as not just being if he scored or not. But you can't really point to him scoring one of five designated penalties.

Yeah, but the danger is that they start to click if they make it to the knockouts.

Usually teams who play well in the group stages are the teams who go home during the knockout stages. It’s better to peak in the knockout rounds rather than group stages.

Teams like France and Brazil are getting the job done. I wouldn’t want England to play either of them in the knockout stages. Same goes for Uraguay.

Is all of this just because Ronaldo played for Man U and Photek needs to prove that somebody else is better? Because otherwise I have no idea why he would suddenly start claiming that penalty shootout goals count as actual goals. :lol:

It's nothing to do with Manchester United Football Club at all but nobody will believe that. I just think Messi is slightly the better player, it's not an outlandish statement to make at all.

Also, I didn't know shoot out goals didn't count tbh. :fp:
