You’d certainly hope so - the average age of the squad was one of the youngest at the tournament(I think it was 26) and a lot of the players who started should only get stronger in the next four years.

DML, don't you gloat when Southampton lose or failure?

That's what I am always getting at. People have predictably came in and started posting GIFs and doing the usual gloating. Probably had them stockpiled for a few weeks waiting for the chance to use them and feel good about themselves.

As I have said to you before DML, I watch sport to see my own team win, not to see another team lose. If you're winning you don't care what other sides are doing. Maybe it feels different to others, but unless a team is directly competing with your own, or impeding your team's progress in someway, there's no meaningful victory in celebrating someone else getting beat. Sport's about winning not about somebody else losing.

Still, it's exactly what DML does with Southampton so it seems a little hypocritical of him to moan when Scotland/Ireland/Wales fans do it to England.

I wouldn’t underestimate the ultimate joy of schadenfreude. Not just in football, but in life. Those of us who are not happy love to see the misery spread. :slol:

As an aside, I felt my nationality flip from English to Scottish the second Mandzukic’s goal went in last night. My sadness became glee. :dread:

Well, even though it didn't go the way we had hoped, it's still been a damn good tournament for England and they should return home with their heads held high.

First world cup semi since 1990, an unprecedented penalty shootout win, and the most exciting team for a generation, they did us proud.

Also, there's still a chance of beating our 1990 squad's achievement, as they lost their third place playoff to finish 4th, so fingers crossed our lads will be able to go one better.

As for the final, i think France has it in the bag.

The best thing about all this is the way the entire country has been drawn together in celebration and anticipation. I get that it must have been insufferable for the ABEs, so of course they're going to try and rub it in that we 'only' made it to the semifinal of a World Cup!

I find the ABEs quite amusing. The Welsh can rightly point at their recent Euro semi-final appearance when they take the piss, but the Scottish are hilarious. A side that hasn't ever made it out of the first round and hasn't qualified in over 20 years is laughing at a semi-final side?

It reminds me of Bristol Rovers fans who were laughing when Bristol City got knocked out of the League Cup earlier this year. I understand why they were happy, but laughing at a side that made it to the semi-finals, when they did strawberry float all of note?

The bitterness is incredibly funny.

Yesterday morning a Welsh colleague claimed England were only doing well because they'd copied the way they play :fp:

Mind you, now I'm inclined to agree.

If England copied the way Wales play, they wouldn’t have even qualified. ;)

HES WON THE GOLDEN BOOT YOU STRAWBERRY FLOATING TWAT

with penalties, a fluke deflection and two headers from corners that he pretty much stood still for after a centre back made a strong initial header
he's had moments from open play but hardly anything compared to what you'd see from him in even a single england friendly before the injury

Yeah, exactly my point. Kane's link up play has been poor over the course of the tournament, and he missed an absolute golden chance at 1-0 in the first half when 1 on 1 that if it were Sterling he'd have been crucified.

Sure yeah, good positioning for the Tunisia goals, but there is little doubt he was poor both last night and last Saturday.

Kane was never actually in the box to receive crosses. I don't get it.

Not that bad actually. Was a struggle getting out of bed and I had some really weird dreams though.
