Fantastic dribbling? Sterling was disposed by almost everyone he tried to take on. Lovren should have been booked and arguably should have been to sent off in the first half. The whole 1 shot thing is also not painting the whole picture as Kane, Maguire and Stones all had headed efforts that they could have scored with and Lingard and Henderson had a couple of chances they could have done better with.

Surely it's more than 1 shot on target anyway. Kane missed that chance first half and then Stones had a header cleared off the line in ET.

I also questioned this, but apparently nope, just one shot the whole game...

Has Lovren improved because of van Dijk being next to him? He's still prone to lapses of insane judgement after all...

Virgil has definitely improved Lovren but both of them are now Liverpool's preferred centre back pairing.

Unlikely.

i disagree. Alli looked spent but we had already brought Dier on for Henderson and we didnt have another midfielder to bring on :(

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was the solution there. Can't believe he didn't get on the pitch.

I don't think Lallana would have made much difference but Chamberlain was looking very useful at Liverpool before his injury. I think he'd have been a decent option in the squad.

Sterling only got dispossessed twice last night and has been one of England's few creative outlets this tournament alongside Trippier. Agree that Lovren should've got booked, even legends like him make mistakes, but considering he only conceded two fouls in the first half, (And three overall) it's a little harsh to say he should've been sent off. We had some half chances that you mention but little in the way of clear-cut ones, which is what happens when you're playing a better team and they've got an icon like Lovren at centre-back. #MakeLovNotWar

Modric also irked by English Media.

Luka Modric issued a withering rebuke to English journalists and pundits who had "underestimated" Croatia after his team's World Cup semi-final victory over England.

The Real Madrid star said detractors "should be more humble" and show greater respect after his side's 2-1 extra-time win shattered England's dreams of glory in Russia.

Modric, who will lead Croatia into their first ever World Cup final on Sunday against France, suggested his team had set out to prove a point.

"Especially English journalists, pundits from television, they underestimated Croatia tonight and that was a huge mistake," Modric said.

"All these words from them we take, we were reading and we were saying, 'OK, today we will see who will be tired'.

"And like I said they should be more humble and respect opponents more.

Not getting disposed isn't the same as fantastic dribbling and running lots isn't the same as being creative. Kane's chances were about as clear cut as they come for an (allegedly) world class striker. I'd admire for your love for a player who gets a lot of stick though.

If Scotland had won the 2-2 draw game with England (Who had already qualified, regardless of the result I believe) during the qualifiers we would have gone through. One England goal kept us out of this World Cup. So that's why we're glad it's not coming home. :P

Seriously though I can't say I care either way. I was cheering on Croatia last night, but not through any ingrained hatred of the English but because I felt they were more of the underdog and the pundits/media were already writing them off as beaten. As the perennial underdogs ourselves I tend to support them as much as possible.

Scotland/England is the world oldest International fixture and we've always had what I've thought of as a friendly rivalry. Certainly I don't hold any genuine malice in any of the jokes I post. But I wouldn't cheer for Rangers in the Champions League (In theory obvs  ) after Celtic went out so why would I cheer for England in an international tournament?

Yes there are those for whom it's not friendly and is due to a genuine hate for England and the English, but I've never met those people and I don't believe that's representative of the majority of Scottish people who view it as just a football rivalry. For example I felt Limmy was going a little too far with his trolling last night, but it's hard to tell when he's playing something up for a laugh or is being genuine

I'm genuinely disappointed for the England fans (Knuckle-dragging, Brexit voting ENGURLUND fuckwits aside) and I'm happy that you guys had such a good tournament. Mistakes were made both on and off the pitch sure and I can't say that I thought you deserved to win last night, but if Southgate can build on this team you're a genuine shout for the Euros and 2022. So well done for the fans and the players. Ha ha to the pundits and the media who were already planning the Final well before kick-off, and here's to the friendly rivalry continuing.

Slightly off topic my belief in our own team is higher than it's been in a long time. I genuinely feel like we're going to make either the Euros or 2022.

Oh and the #itscominghome meme went from amusing to obnoxious really strawberry floating quick up here.

He probably shouldn't read/watch it then.

Croatia media seems pretty tacky too. Posting images of English fans and players upset "Look at how the English cry" :fp: Or one English ref saying something negative about Croatia, and them attaching that to all English people  . As far as I can tell, any time England lose to a country it's an excuse for a countries media to stir up dislike for the English.

In the spirit of brexit, i think the match should be played again as we didn't get the result we wanted first time around.
