I'll say it again, you would never see this from the English about the other home nations.

If anything, we'd be cheering them on as much as our own team.

Would you strawberry float. I was down with England doing well but that’s total bullshit.

I was going to suggest that they use a talk to type facility but their funny accents would probably prevent that.

He probably shouldn't read/watch it then.

Croatia media seems pretty tacky too. Posting images of English fans and players upset "Look at how the English cry" :fp: Or one English ref saying something negative about Croatia, and them attaching that to all English people  . As far as I can tell, any time England lose to a country it's an excuse for a countries media to stir up dislike for the English.

You shouldn’t read/watch Croatian media. No idea how you did though.

I'm genuinely confused by this. I'd rather a home nation won anything.

I’m sure it differs for some but me personally I like to see the Republic do well. I’ve always seen the whole of the British Isles as home. Culturally we are all intertwined and very close. If the Republic were in with a chance of a tournament win I would totally support them. When they face big teams I’m interested and will them on to win.

I think part of that is most of England don't see Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as genuine threats. Apart from 2016 when was the last time one of those countries got further than England in a major tournament? It's easy to support the other countries when 99% of the time you're performing better than them. If that wasn't the case there'd be far more more (hopefully friendly) rivalry between the nations.

Because every single English accent is perfectly understandable to everyone in the UK? Let's not have this devolve into racism.

Also guys, is it not possible some of the fans in that plane were Croatian supporters? It was a flight from Croatia. No need to make arrogant/derogatory comments.

It's not just football, it's every sport. I've been told Great Britain "is just England" not meaning everyone who represents GB is English but that's what GB means. See Alex Salmond when Andy Murray won at Wimbledon.

Again, watch all the ABE's start supporting their teams in the EPL in a few weeks.

The EPL were most teams have four English players, who most of the time aren't even close to being the best players in the team, I'm sure that makes a big impact on people supporting the national team.

An article on the Guardian had a link to it. It was actually quite easy to click.

I've always thought we should have a UK team for sports competitions. Why be called "United" when we are not? Collectively we'd pull in some better results.

Yes?

You're right, it would be a better team with Gareth Bale in the squad.
