Can't believe we're paying Alan Shearer over £400k. Does my nut in.

Croatia have looked great in the first half, shame France's first goal came from a free kick that wasn't a free kick. On the penalty, it's a tricky one, his hand obviously impacted on the ball but watching the same few seconds in slow mo over and over again is bound to make even an honest mistake look a little intentional but at the end of the day that's what the ref is there for.

Hope the second half is just as good!

If the ref had given a corner in the first place might've avoided all this...

Klinsmann's American accent

Clear deliberate handball, he's swiped at it like a cat.

Edit: I'm actually rooting for Croatia.

You might not personally think it's handball, but I don't think it's so definitive that you can say it absolutely is not a penalty. I wasn't surprised to see it given when it went to VAR. I had a feeling from the replays that it would be given.

I wasn't surprised to see it given because as has been stated before focusing on two seconds of footage in slow motion over and over again makes everything look obvious and intentional.

The referee is only supposed to overturn the decision if they are 100% sure it’s a penalty. The fact that he took so long over it to the point of actually moving away from the screen then going back again tells me that he was not 100% sure, and therefore the penalty shouldn’t have been given.

Remember when people were against the idea of video replays because it might take controversy out of the game? :slol:

Unless France pick up in the second half then they're probably in with a solid shout of being the worst performing team to win a world cup final.

Mark Pugach is a strawberry floating idiot.

Yes his hand's in a natural position when he touches it, it's the fact that he's deliberately moved his hand towards it that's the problem.

SO many good goals in this tournament. Queresma, Kroos and the Chaldi goal are probably my favourites.

No he hasn't, he is coming down after jumping, that's how people move.

Do your hands move of their own volition? EVERY move you make is deliberate - you're the only one telling your hands where to go FFS. The point is whether his hands are where they are as he was trying to stop the ball, or if they're there because that's where they would have been regardless.

Shocked the Mertens goal against Panama wasn't in BBC's top 10, but there wasn't really a bad goal in their list either. Would probably have taken the Chadli goal out.

He does open up his left hand to make it large, which it doesn't do with his other hand, so it just adds to the appearance he's slapping at the ball.

Nah, at least their own players scored a goal and Buffon made at least one great save.

For me that was a penalty. It's a block of the ball with the hand in a outstretched position and the player clearly hasnt aimed at it to win it.

I bet these pitch invaders are going to treated wonderfully and not brutally beaten even a little bit.
I predict they will give an interview about how lovely the Russian authorities are.
