This was a great World Cup. Shame that the VAR decision shaped the final but it was a good one, it had it all really.
Have to say that I wasn't very impressed with France, they've got some outstanding players but I don't really rate them as a team but I guess that's largely down to the manager. If they played again next week there's a good 5 or 6 teams that would be in with a shout of beating them. And will never get over the fact that Giroud will forever have a WC winners medal.

I think in reality this France team would beat the last couple of champions very easily. Its just that all the 'smaller' teams have upped their game to such an extent that every game is tough now, and you gotta make it through and be much steelier.
France beat Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium and Croatia - its not like they had a soft team they could go out and humiliate.

Well done to Kane for the winning the golden boot but much like in the Premiership I do think his goal tally doesn't tell the whole story about him as a player. I totally understand people will say that that is all that matters for a striker but I think you need more technical ability to be truly world class.
France totally deserved it. Best team, best squad and they beat Uruguay, Belgium and Croatia all in 90 minutes and they were the best of the rest in the competition. I'd include Argentina in that list too but they had a really poor tournament.

Why? Giroud is one dimensional but he is great in the air and his hold up play is brilliant.

On the contrary I think this France team is the worst (most average) to win it in a very long time.
This World Cup as a whole was severely lacking in world class talent and it led to fairly average teams progressing to the latter stages of the tournament as there was a lack of individual players making the difference through sheer quality and both Croatia and France got to the final doing just enough (except vs Argentina). Go back as far as you like and the names in those finals cast a huge shadow over 2018's.
Still a brilliant tournament but the lack of quality began to show from the QF's on imo.

Have to disagree, Germany 2014 and Spain 2010 were leagues ahead of this lot. Way more dominant.
At this WC almost all the sides have dropped ridiculously deep whenever they lose the ball, and have tried to pick teams off on the counter. It's pragmatic and obviously works for France with Mbappe, but this isn't a vintage WC winners side.
France are deserved champions but have had a fair bit of luck. Argentina were awful. Uruguay was a tight game and they benefitted from an injured Cavani and a goalkeeping howler. Belgium didn't have Meunier but were the better side, with France sitting back for most of the match. Croatia dominated the first half and were unfortunate for the first 2 goals with VAR and a soft free kick imo.
Genuinely? Possibly the best team of all time and one of the best Germany squads ever assembled it's not a contest, then you've got:
France 98: A spine of Barthez, Desailly, Deschamps, Zidane and Djorkaeff. Henry, Trezeguet and vieira on the bench. Brazil 02: Cafu, Carlos, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo etc. Italy 06: A back five of Buffon, Matterazzi, Cannavaro, Grosso and Zambrotta. Totti. Del Piero and De Rossi on the bench.

Could you name these 5 or 6 good teams?
Not sure what you mean if they played next week. World Cup is over and they won. They scored 11 goals in total in the knockout games. Which is impressive considering the teams they faced.
They were deserved winners. They were good defensively and lethal on the break.
