Emptying the dishwasher is a bit of a bind.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Cooking, or more to the point buying food. The wife is a very picky eater and she doesn't make it easy for me to cook a nourishing meal every night.

Home staff... dishwashers... washer/dryers... ironed socks.

I'm starting to think that GR isn't the socialist uprising powerhouse that I'd thought I'd signed up for.

Middle-class + Stuff :-(.

Glad we all hate cleaning the bathroom. I dread it every week.

This is bait so you can judge people on how often they clean their bathroom :capnscotty:

(It's definitely not every week!)

I feel like I should do it every week but it's more likely every other week.

My wife would want me to do it every week.

Washing up, for sure! It's so boring and has so little reward.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

I'm going to speak up in defence of cleaning the bathroom.

Use proper cleaning stuff and wash your hands after and it's no dirtier than wiping your own arse. Also there's a cathartic quality in getting that layer of soap scum off the sinks etc and getting some bleach down the toilet and leaving everything really sparkling. When you've cleaned your bathroom it looks and smells clean. When I worked in Costa Coffee cleaning the toilet was always my job, and only partially because it gave me five minutes with a locked door between my boss and me.

It's tidying in general for me. I sometimes just can't be arsed binning stuff or putting stuff where it belongs. This means I don't mind filling the dishwasher but hate emptying it, will quite happily do the washing up but hate drying/putting away dishes and pans, and I'm a washing...er...machine, but putting clothes away :dread: (although mine and my son's clothes are fairly easy, I've lived with my wife for seventeen years but still don't understand where to put a lot of her clothes  :fp: )

I was going to make a thread about bins actually. Does anyone else feel that they don't have enough recycling space? They won't let you flatten bottles so most of the stuff I recycle is air, and I'm now separating all my bottles and recycling them separately :x

Of those it's laundry by an absolute mile. It's the most labour intensive by a huge margin, involves multiple stages across different locations in the house, has a big time investment and requires a long wait whilst various processes complete. It's also the most most tedious/monotonous - collecting all the washing, sorting into lights/darks/colours, folding things to put away, pairing endless socks, getting annoyed when another strawberry floating sock goes missing, sorting into piles for each member of the family, putting each person's clothes away in a separate room... yeah laundry is the winner for sure.

Vacuuming is fun - has an instant visual reward and you can gamify it easily - fastest route around the room, how many rooms can you do without needing to empty or optimise your route to not have to move the plug etc. All else fails you can pretend it's a race car zooming around or that you're in outer space sucking up asteroids or something!

Doing the dishes is meh, not that challenging and can be polished off quite quickly. Finishing it all off and putting everything away in its home has a nice satisfaction to it though.

Cooking is an absolute joy - a fun process that results in something tasty, what's not to like?! Plus there's the discovery aspect - try a new recipe, learn a new technique! Cooking

Bathroom clean is a piece of piss (lol!) Quick wipe over regularly and it's easy to stay on top of.

Bins, as long as you don't try to overfill what's the problem? Just tie it up and carry it out!

With the stuff you serve your food in though, it's not a meal it's an autopsy.

Bathroom by a mile for me, if only because I live in a hard water area and it's a massive pain in the arse to get to all the nooks and crannies in the shower enclosure to clean up the gunk.

Everything else is straightforward really. I hate gardening the most though. Constantly fighting back weeds, brambles and bamboo, and I haven't got a well-kept lawn so mowing it is a pain. :dread:

Gardening is another good call. My garden is actually wasted on me since I don't really use it. And because I don't use it it gets overgrown pretty easily. I'm in a constant battle with the brambles that have taken root from next door. Despite buying the property almost 4 years ago the new owners still haven't moved in and sorted the garden (which was overgrown because the previous owner was too old to maintain the garden). I mow the lawn and try to control the weeds and I try and keep on top of it for the sake of my other neighbours but it's such a pain. And recently the neighbourhood cats have decided they're going to use it as a toilet so I'm constantly cleaning up cat gooseberry fool too. I really need a house with either a smaller garden or no garden at all.

I don’t know. You pull out all the stops, try to do something with a little extra class, and where does it get you?

Cleaning the bathroom is fine until you get to the toilet. I also loathe washing up. Fortunately I make my partner do both of those so I never have to touch them.

Laundry for me. It's too time consuming. And it never seems to end. It's not like you can put music on to make the time seemingly go faster till everything is dry too.

I do love cooking, making something from scratch and it coming out delicious is always a reward (in my opinion). Even something simple like homemade mac and cheese, to me, is really enjoyable to make!

People clean their toilets? Isn't that what the flush is for?

Easy tip for bathroom if you have white tiles or any tiles for that matter.

Just hoover it. 90% of it of is lint, hair and dust. Chasing lint around on a sponge and picking it off or rinsing it off is perpetual misery. And yeah our bathroom is 100% white.

We really shouldn't have such dark/coloured towels, but light towels don't exactly keep their colour. Maybe some grey ones.

Then you just need a generic bathroom cleaner and a sponge, and maybe some apple cider vinegar or spirit vinegar or lemon juice for the taps.

I wash out the bath and/or shower each time I use it and use a blade on all the glass or tiles (we have hard water). Never gets bad.

I only have to do one print run of T-shirts or hoodies in my workshop to get a layer of lint on strawberry floating everything but I don't really understand how much can come from towels, they just shed 24/7 even when they're sat there on a rack doing strawberry float all, mocking us.

Toilet is just bleach, unless you gooseberry fool or piss everywhere or have terrible limescale it shouldn't get all that bad... My enemy again is strawberry floating lint, it sticks all over the sides of the toilet bowl. Our cistern is boxed in so don't have to bother with that. I wipe up lint about once a week, or if I see it in a spot like the back of the toilet and think it as reached an unacceptable threshold, seeing as that's about 5 seconds of effort (it's a very small bathroom).
