Unfortunately not. The internet became widely available not long after and so I donated my collection to my younger brother. I dread to think what he did with them. :dread:

If a business just sends you money by mistake then, I'm not sure there's much they can do about that, they've just voluntary paid you money directly into your account so, erm, honestly I'm not sure what legal recourse they could take to recover it.

as far as im aware if they ask you for it back then you have to (reasonably) re-pay it.

Yep, you're required to return the cash in these cases.

According to the Theft Act 1968 you would be guilty of "dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit" if you didn't!

My sister and I stole a packet of chewing gum from our local Wellworths in the early 90s, now they're out of business.

I traded it in to a local Chips, they tested it once and it didn't work so they tested it again with two other games and it worked just fine so they gave me a bunch of store credit for it which I spent on another GameCube (the Pokemon Colosseum bundle).

My contributions to neither of those shops being around anymore

That reminds me, traded a 40GB PS3 in at CEX towards a PS4. The WiFi and LAN connection didn't work but fortunately they didn't test those bits.

At youth club there was an old lady who manned the little sweet shop in there, who could easily be fooled in to letting you take as many sweets as you wanted for whatever money. My party trick being to give her a 2 pence piece, loudly ask for 2 p worth of sweets to show off to my mates and then fill one of those paper pick and mix type bags to the bursting point where it would start ripping. Sometimes while she was watching me do this, another friend would blatantly lean over the counter beside her and take panda pops.

Thinking back she was probably scared of us.

She's probably dead now too.

That's such a British way of putting it, it's not being criminal it's "dishonesty" like that's almost excusable, it's just "not really on"

Interesting case law, thanks (btw I don't do this, I've just generally been under the assumption if you get paid something by accident it's someone else's fault).

Sex is also implied, but not clear if that was before or after death.

I don't really want to go into everything but I guess carrying a concealed weapon is one.

I was attacked by 2 guys when I was 14ish and one of them had a knife. I managed to kick the knife out his hand and it went over a wall but despite punching back I got quiet a lot of bruises a black eye and a small cut on my hand from the first slash he did with the knife.

Do to this and the fear it would happen again I stitched metal rods into my leather coat more for defensive blocking than attacking but I guess most would still have a dim view of it.

In 2001 I’d just moved into my first place and was in the process of furnishing it out. I went to buy my tv of my dreams, a Philips 28” CRT Nicam Stereo set (woo!);that was actually voted “TV of the year 2001”. This thing cost £1300 even back then.

Anyways, I asked the shop I got it from (a regional electrical store) if they accepted Amex cards as I’d recently taken out a cashback card from them. The store said they’d just started taking Amex cards a week earlier. So I paid my £1300, got my credit card receipt from the machine and left. The TV was delivered a few days later and served me quite well for many years (eventually traded it in against a new HDTV in about 2014). I did have to send it in for repair twice under warranty in the first year or so though.

The best thing though was that I never ever got charged for it by Amex! To this day, some 17 yrs later, I’ve not been hit for a single penny. I kept the receipt for years before finally ditching it safe in the knowledge that enough time had passed. The credit card account was open for years too under the same number too.

So, not a deliberate act but one I’m not going to actively rectify. Guess the store got their money and it’s Amex who never did.

Oh yeah, shagged a couple of married and engaged women too many years ago and long before met my missus

I never knew this "shag a married person" thing was such a common practice!

Are people finding out about the persons marital status after doing the deed or are you "going in" fully aware that the other person is hitched?

Fair enough.

I'm interested in what people's general opinion is on this, I would have thought that most people would frown on this sort of thing - but then maybe I'm out of touch?

Also for those who've done it, what's your though process like in these situations - do you feel bad about what you're are doing (not necessarily saying you should btw) or do you think "strawberry float it, they're the one who's cheating"?

I’ve never shagged a married woman, but did fool around with one in a nightclub once. She was open about it and it was just drunken fumbling.

I think as long as you don’t know the people then morally the fault is solely with the cheating person. If you know the partner then it’s morally wrong. And it’s disgusting if the partner is a friend or relative of yours.
