Humans are very good at finding hope where there isn't really any, so even if the moon were going to crash into the planet I imagine there would be lots of projects to try to survive or preserve something. Can we work out where the moon will hit? Could we get an ark up into space where it would survive the blast? Would vaults or bomb shelters or underground cities help? I would feel the need to try to do something.

If it were in two days I would probably just spend it wandering around some nice countryside in the middle of nowhere with my partner, hopefully away from all the anger and looting and so forth.

Worth noting that with hope and time there are a lot of people on this planet. Lots of people have lots of skills and the same 24 hours in their days. Given enough of a motivator, having potential billions of hands and brains working on one solution (ie, ark, silo, big ship, new grain, zombie gun - edit for disaster) really great things could be achieved.

Then go to space and revert when we devolve into local clans again on each wing of the mega ark.

Me getting to work is dependent on the buses running, so it really all hinges on whether public transport keeps going.

Your neighbours would be the first to turn to cannibalism and would be bashing down your door before the first news broadcast ended.

They can barely walk out to their car so there's no way they'd try and climb a few stairs :datass: .

That's the thing, in a long term scenario a lot of people will have the mentality of "well, people are relying on me, best not let them down" and try to carry on as normal.
Arguably there'd be people with the opposite mentality of "nobody else is going to bother" but I'd like to think that the former would win out over selfishness overall.

I remember those.

If it was very soon I'd be going to score some heroin and crack, may as well go out on a high.

No chance, I’d sell my house live off the equity and spend the time showing my kids the world. Obviously I’d be taking them out of school for this, but I’d want to do as much as possible with my kids, show them how amazing this planet is.

Probably fake some illness take as much sick as I can take before they fire me :shifty:

Who would buy a house if the world was about to end?

What about if only you knew the world was going to end (in two years) and you couldn't tell anyone?

Fake edit - at the thread, not RapistSCFC.

Still turn to the heroin and go rapidly insane as no-one believes you and you get sent off to the asylum.

If I legit for some reason couldn't tell anyone or do anything about it at all -- 6 months working hard and adding to my savings, 18 months travelling.

If it was years away - Provisional yes, but I'd spend money a lot more freely, travel a lot more, keeping only a bare minimum in savings.
If we're talking months, weeks or days - Nope.

Would you still bother or would you decide "strawberry float it I'm spending my last few years posting on GRCade!".

I'm a strawberry float no I'm staying home and watching Blue Planet 2 UHD on my new TV until the power goes out forever and I finally have to start reading the hundreds of books I have that I'm yet to get round to starting.

Are you on about Brexit?

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Nope.
Although I voted to stay in and think leaving is madness I think we'll somehow muddle through and come out the other end ok.
