PostWriting a Middleware Program to Speak to Another Program

My dad has a program he wants to use for work, but it's not written in English, my dad understands the language but none of his co-workers do. It's a very old program, looks like it was originally written for DOS, when you double click to open it up it opens a dos console, he said he originally got it with a book, and it was included on a diskette, yes it is that old.

The program is very basic from what I've seen it has no real options, it just boots up and then you enter in some values after prompts and it spits out some values. It's basically a calculator for engineering.

Is there some way to write a middleware program where someone could see the values they need to enter in English, and then just put them in and have that program feed the numbers to the first program? Or is there a better way to go about translating this thing?

Any help with this would be appreciated.
