Thought I would make a thread for this as only last years and few people seem interested in it in the wrestling thread.

Anyone have this apart from me?

Best reviewed WWE in number of years. 81 on metacritic on Xbox One if youre into that kind of thing

http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-one/wwe-2k16

https://wwe.2k.com/uk - Official site is pretty good gives all the Stone Cold promo trailers in one place without me pasting them and details full roster on homepage.

First hour of MyCareer.

Short creation suite video

Had it since launch,

Pros so far,

+ Roster is so big, 120 wrestlers with probably 100 unlocked from start. Sting '91 :datass:
+ MyCareer is awesome, properly start in NXT and work way up rankings eventually to HoF.
+ Animations are spot on for most
+ Slower, more tactical pace is welcome
+ Some next gen models look amazing
+ Creation suite back to the god old days. Ridiculous amount of options. People are amazing at CAW's still and Asuka, Braun Strowman etc are up there already.

- Backstage parts in MyCareer repetitive
- Hair is still realllly bad. Those with long hair look like they are from last game.
- Creation load times slow.
- I'm bad at it.

My brother bought it so I've played a bit of the Showcase which was my favourite mode in the last one. It's just as well done as the showcases in last year's game so I'm looking forward to spending more time with it this weekend. The bigger roster is great but I hope that more wrestlers get different era outfits. I would like to see Edge and Christian reeking of awesomeness once again.

I don't like the slow pace of the game but I'm still impressed by the different animations like ropes moving when you hit them with a move. The commentary can be a bit delayed, or even use the wrong names, but that hasn't been a strong point for me since Warzone.

Overall, I think that it's a great game for fans, though it could be improved. Breaking out of entrances is a very welcome feature that I've imagined since No Mercy. It's a shame that you can't spend too long outside the ring before the match automatically ends and the transition into the official start is jarring.

Yeah I've only done the first showcase but was pretty cool, didn't get last years only played it last year briefly at a mates. Also can't wait to get stuck in.

Yeah I think there are a few alt outfits like American Badass etc which look forward to getting as he even comes out to 'Rolling, but theres not many.

I think the commentary is maybe at an all time low, so so bad. Cole is sitting rhyming off moves people do, hilariously bad.

My favourite animation is crawling along and then using turnbuckle to help themselves up, the rope ones you mention are also welcome.

If you could turn off all the in-game minigame fluff then I might have been tempted to pick it up this year (I prefer mashing buttons) sadly, as curious mentioned in the Wrestling thread, it doesn't look like you can : (

I would turn off commentary too

They need to move away from it being a fighting game - I think we're all adult enough to know that however physically demanding and dangerous wrestling can be, they aren't actually fighting in the real sense, and this is where the mechanics are at odds with what the series is trying to portray. Wrestlers don't win every match, so having to do so makes it jarring.

The series needs at least a year off and a total redesign - a new engine and somehow change the gameplay to make it more cohesive, perhaps you're given the broad outcome of the match, but still have some leeway in how you pull it off, all the while having to make it entertaining enough for the crowds. Like you give or receive telegraphs for doing a move and you both have to get in the right position or whatever to pull it off, get the timing right for dramatic reversals of fortune, stuff like that. However that would require the WWE to drop Kayfabe, which will never happen.

Picked this up today (PS4) and enjoying it so far. The submission mini game will take some getting used to but it looks great and plays well. I only ever bother with exhibition matches and sometimes the universe mode so its got plenty to keep me entertained

I feel that the Showcase mode does a good job of making you entertain the crowd, instead of win the match, with its objectives and cutscene finishes. It would be great to see an overall faster pace, fewer cutscenes and something more engaging than quick time events so that everything flows better and you don't feel like you're watching half the match instead of playing it. The commentary definitely needs a huge overhaul because it's just as lifeless in the game as it is on TV but then that would require a dramatic change in the shows, not just the game, so we won't see that for a long time, ever.

The career modes in No Mercy and HCTP were fantastic as you saw a range of storylines and you were always in control of the game. I can't remember how HCTP forced losses, if it did, but No Mercy did get a bit repetitive by relying on interference to disqualify the player, even if he/she was being attacked.

I'm still enjoying Austin's showcase in 2K16 and the exhibition modes are great locally. Some of the character models do looks terrible. I wouldn't have realised that Ken Shamrock was the guest referee in one match if I hadn't already known. Online play was really laggy when I tried it in 2K15, and I haven't given it a go here, so I'm hoping that it has improved, especially with the latest patch.

Gave online a few goes on XB1, actually pretty decent, only sliiight lag which was suprising. 3 matches though so I'm sure that could all change.

Really enjoying the create modes - especially other peoples - some folk are really talented. Fantastic WCW Nitro, TNA, ROH etc arenas up for download. Started making my own arena, the amount of options truly are mind blowing.

Something else really cool which I didn't realise until my friend done it, you can fully change each actual show in Universe as in show names (from RAW), arenas etc. So he has changed the lot and now has a complete WCW Universe 8-) May do the same.

This is my favourite WWE game since the PS2 glory days for sure.

This is pretty good (I've been playing it over Fallout 4 :shifty: ) but it's not without problems. The pin mini-game doesn't always pop up immediately, it absolutely should, and there are some other smaller issues like not being able to enter the ring when you're near a ring post. Otherwise I'm fairly impressed, My Career mode is enormous but I can't find a way to change my wrestler's name. I called him Perfect Ten Ben, what the strawberry float was I thinking? :fp:

It's okay, but it's still disappointing compared to the glory days of the PS2 games. Still furious they've cut the highlight reel modes and the ability to splice together your own entrance videos, that was the best feature they'd introduced in literally decades, then it was gone the next game.

The create mode is tedious as chuff, too. Why the hell does it hang loading every single hairstyle? It can't be that difficult considering every other game in history has a create-a-character mode that functions fine.

Can you only have one pyro during your entrance, too? Sure I added two, but only the ring pyro ever goes off :(

From what I've played it feels really slow, too. Need to have a muck about with my CAW's abilities, though. I liked being 7 foot 2 and still flying around the ring like I was in the X division.

This is hilarious, though. My guy comes down to the ring in a gorilla suit and a mask, so someone interrupts the entrance, we brawl on the outside for a bit, then it just cuts to a random stranger in the crowd, pauses for a second, and then BAM suddenly my entrance outfit is gone.

I like how you can make attire for the superstars this year. A much needed addition!

I couldn't share it because the PS4 screwed up somewhere, but I had a fantastic match in the career mode with Sami Zayn earlier. I'm a heel so I dominated for ages but he kept kicking out again and again until he mounted a comeback, hit a finisher, then applied his submission which I just about escaped before hitting my finisher a third time and winning. My first five star match too.

Sounds good 8-) I'm enjoying the back and forths and pace like in your match, makes it more realistic. Had few 4 star in MyCareer but no 5 star yet. Only #4 in NXT, need to go back to it due to of course Fallout.

I hope MyCareer gets better after NXT. I had the exact same feud with Tyler Breeze and Kevin Owens, then pursued the NXT title until I main evented the third PPV against Balor in a non-title match and destroyed him. Now the game is trying to get me into feuds with Hideo Itami and Simon Gotch but I keep shrugging them off because my next match should really be a NXT Title match.

Went back to Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain (I think) last night. It's amazing the difference between the two eras. I think my biggest issue with the new games is they feel far too scripted (the royal rumble elimination minigames, having to get an "OMG MOMENT" to get out of the cell rather than just walking out the door, trashing the table before you can put someone through it), so you don't get the organic hilarity that the older games had (had a hardcore match that started in the car park outside the studio (complete with shopping trolley you could load opponents into) that went through the loading bay, a warehouse, and finally finished on the entrance ramp to the ring).

It's almost a bit sad that it's not rose-tinted glasses - the games were genuinely so, so much better on the PS2.
