First episode was jarring and conspiracy laden which was annoying but still good fun. David hasn't actually got into the Fox Mulder mode yet but he is getting there. Gillian was great. Second episode tonight

10x01- I really enjoyed that as a new viewer who basically knows nothing about this show. It was very exposition heavy but Duchovny's weird charisma held it together.

Going to watch the pilot on Amazon Prime.

Gonna sound weird but it felt like an episode of Fringe. I dunno whether it's the higher production values or what, and I know it's weird to say that it felt like Fringe given how derivative of The X Files Fringe always was, but it didn't... scratch that itch, you know?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting it to be just like it always was like some battered housewife going back to her high school boyfriend, but I think that because of the six episode limit they're trying to make every moment as X-Filesy as possible meaning there's no moments for actual personality to shine through. It feels like someone doing an impression of the X Files.

(strawberry float I sound like a twat. Ignore me, I did quite like this one. I think the problem is that it was just good enough that it reminded how amazing the show was at its best).

I use a free chrome extension called DotVPN. Not had any trouble yet, been watching seasons 4 and 5 over the last week.

Fun episode, going back watching the other s in the series Darin Morgan was writer on.

Morgan became a full-time staff writer for The X-Files, where he wrote his first episode, "Humbug" (originally aired on March 31, 1995). A quirky, funny, sometimes gruesome story about a series of murders in a colony of circus freaks, "Humbug" is considered a landmark episode in the history of The X-Files for broadening the dark tone and style of the series into funnier, less predictable directions. It was nominated for a 1996 Edgar Award.

I think he was producer on a lot of episodes too.

Yea I seem to remember that being a thing.

Something to do with cancer. Or, like, anti-cancer.

The post-Mulder years are a dark time.

Excellent and very fun episode. So many good moments.

Just going by his imdb credits, he also had a few uncredited writing contributions on the show. Either way he worked on some top class episodes.

I was working my way through a rewatch before I started the new episodes but I caved and just watched the first two.
10 x 01 - It was a bit weird at first with Mulder and Scully both looking much older and the characters were both a bit depressed and so not quite how we remembered them. I really loved it though!
It's cool that they didnt change the opening titles at all, and there some nice callbacks such as the pencils still in the ceiling in Mulders office. Plus dat endingl!
It was way better than I expected.

10 x 02 - This was your more typical X Files episode. Other than a few flashbacks to fill in the missing years we were back with the same Mulder and Scully from years ago. The episode itself was solid but nothing special, I preferred the opening, but the quality is still way above my expectations.

Yeah there were lots of great writers, but i do think Darin Morgan had a bigger role than 6 episodes, I remember seeing his name a lot in the credits.

Vince Gilligan was my favourite x files writer, before I knew who he was, just looking back at my favourite episodes they were mostly his: Pusher, Bad Blood, Je Souhaite, Dreamland, X-Cops, Field Trip, Hungry.

Hopefully this will get renewed for a longer season and he'll have time to be involved.

Episode 3 was absolutely hilarious. Duchovny was on amazing form. I love a great comedy ep. Seems like they're trying to include one of every kind of ep in this short 6 episode run. Rhys Darby was so perfect for that role.

I pretty much like anything rhys darby is in ha, he's so funny.
